The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has issued a notification regarding a scheduled power shutdown in several key districts across the state on Wednesday, December 4, 2025. The power disruption is necessary to carry out essential monthly maintenance work on the power lines, sub-stations, and feeders to ensure a stable and reliable supply in the long run.
The planned outage will particularly impact areas under the electricity board jurisdictions of Coimbatore, Theni, and Udumalpet, as well as parts of Perambalur. Residents, industrial units, and commercial establishments in these regions are advised to make necessary alternate arrangements to avoid inconvenience.
Time and Duration of the Power Cut
The power supply interruption will generally run for several hours, with specific timings varying slightly by district:
- Coimbatore & Udumalpet: The power cut is generally scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (7 hours).
- Theni: The scheduled outage will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (6 hours).
- Perambalur: The power cut is expected to be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (5 hours).
The supply will be restored immediately if the maintenance work is completed ahead of the scheduled time.
