The horrific domestic violence of Kamareddy is said to have broken up a family, as a petty spat between a couple in one family led to a domestic violence case, whereby the couple bickered with one another and beat each other into brutal struggles, in which two very young siblings of the family were left without their parents.
The late Kodanda Shivaji was said to have resided in a rented house with his wife, Lakshmi and 2 young daughters. The family had been experiencing deep financial troubles for months and often fought with each other, the police say. The investigators thought the stress and tension had not been solved, and even resulted in chaos and tragedy.
Shivaji asked Lakshmi about cooking a non-vegetarian dinner at home, the report said. A minor conflict that might have been common could have become high drama when both of them faced emotional and financial hardship as well. There was also a rapid decline in the verbal argument as well.
The two had to do with physical arguments, and the fights spilt over into one another before the arguments could stop when the arguments started to fester, and the heat had too much steam. It is alleged that Lakshmi, in a fit of rage, continued the attack, physically attacked her husband with a sharp weapon, a knife, at the house. She is said to have used a knife on his neck, which left a tremendous haemorrhage.
The injury left Shivaji with an open wound, and he died at the scene before medical care could get to his corpse. Neighbours dashed to the scene, seeing the stampede of the crowd and the crowd’s screams, before the locals called the police. Shortly after, officers arrived, and they took Lakshmi into custody.
The local police are investigating, filing a murder charge and undertaking further legal action. The fallout from the incidents has left the couple’s two daughters, 2 and 1, in tatters. The children are experiencing a lack of parental care because their father is already dead, and their mother is in police custody, so their future and welfare are up to the whims of the criminal justice system.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two major perpetrators of the violence were experienced in some part due to prolonged financial stress and numerous domestic arguments, police officials said. The completion of the procedural part of the investigation will be assisted by this post-mortem report.
It’s an example of how unresolved family conflicts, compounded by financial crises, can spiral into something worse. Being able to communicate well with ease and quickly engage families in financial distress can be especially important when they face these tragedies, some experts say.
