Telangana is expected to see another spell of severe monsoon activity as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in four districts of the state over the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall in Hyderabad could be accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds, and moderate to heavy showers in the evening, it warned that people should be on guard.

The favourable monsoon conditions and the moisture intrusion from the Bay of Bengal will lead to widespread rainfall in many parts of Telangana, said meteorologists. Heavy rains are most likely to be experienced in the northern and eastern parts of Telangana, and flooding and waterlogging may occur.

The IMD warned that heavy rainfall could have adverse effects on normal life in low-lying areas, especially in areas prone to flash flooding. Farmers and residents living near streams, lakes, and drainage channels were told to be alert as rainfall intensity could surge suddenly in some places.

The cloudy skies in Hyderabad will remain in the afternoon, and thunderstorms are predicted to arrive in the evening. Weather officials predict periods of rain with lightning and powerful winds from the thunderstorms to disrupt traffic during peak commuting times, and waterlogging would be a hazard in areas where heavy rains continue for long periods, especially in areas where waterlogging is a concern.

Civic authorities in Hyderabad have put emergency response teams on standby and advised residents not to travel in heavy rain. There would be traffic congestion and slippery roads, and accidents could occur due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.

The weather patterns in Telangana are changing with the monsoon moving in. Most of the state has already experienced a lot of rain over the last few days, which brought water levels in reservoirs and helped relieve high temperatures. But in the event of a very short period of heavy rainfall, officials warned that the situation could result in urban flooding and damage to infrastructure.

Experts advise citizens to watch what information is being given and to take safety advice from authorities. Residents should stay indoors in the midst of thunderstorms, avoid flooded roads, and report any emergencies to the relevant authorities.

With monsoon activity expected to continue over the next couple of days, Telangana will still have intermittent rain in the coming days, and Hyderabad will still see one stormy evening. They are monitoring weather conditions and taking steps to mitigate the impacts of heavy rainfall on the area should severe rainfall continue.
