Tumakuru DC Office Receives Bomb Threat Via Email; High-Alert Security Search On

A bomb threat sent via email to the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office in Tumakuru, Karnataka, triggered a high-alert security operation this morning, leading to the complete evacuation and comprehensive search of the premises.

The threat was delivered to the official email address of the Tumakuru District Commissioner, Shubha Kalyan, at 6:59 AM. DC Kalyan immediately alerted the local police, initiating a rapid security response.

Massive Security Operation Launched

Following the alert, a large contingent of over 100 police personnel was deployed to the DC office, which falls under the Tumakuru City Police Station jurisdiction. The operation was led by City DySP Chandrashekar, Inspector Avinash, Sub Inspector Chethan, and their teams.

Key measures taken during the security sweep included:

  • Evacuation: All staff members of the DC office were immediately moved outside the building as a safety precaution.
  • Search: Police teams conducted a meticulous, inch-by-inch search of the entire office premises, focusing particularly on the DC’s chamber and the Personal Assistants’ offices.
  • Specialised Teams: The Bomb Disposal Squad and Canine Squad were brought in to conduct thorough inspections of the building and grounds.
  • Access Control: The main gate was secured, and entry was strictly restricted. Vehicles and officials were subjected to extensive checks before being allowed onto the compound, while general public access was completely banned for the day.

Office staff and officials waited anxiously outside the compound as the lengthy inspection proceeded. The Tumakuru Sub-division police remain stationed at the location to manage the situation and ensure safety.
