Two Indian nationals have been killed and several others injured following a drone attack in Oman, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The incident reportedly occurred amid escalating regional tensions involving Iran and its ongoing military operations in the Gulf region.
In an official statement, the MEA said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss of Indian lives in the attack. The ministry confirmed that two Indian workers died in the drone strike, while multiple others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The drone strike is believed to be linked to the broader conflict involving Iran’s military operations targeting strategic sites in the region. Authorities in Oman have launched an investigation into the attack, and security has been tightened around key infrastructure and residential areas where foreign workers reside.
The Indian embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant contact with local authorities to ensure the safety of Indian citizens. Officials said consular support is being provided to the injured and to the families of those who lost their lives.
“The Embassy is extending all possible assistance to the affected individuals and coordinating with Omani authorities,” the MEA said. The identities of the victims have not yet been publicly disclosed, pending notification of their families.
India has also urged all its nationals in Oman to remain cautious and follow the safety advisories issued by local authorities and the Indian embassy.
The incident comes at a time when tensions across the Gulf have intensified, with multiple drone and missile attacks reported in recent weeks. The safety of foreign workers and international shipping routes has become a growing concern as the conflict expands beyond traditional battle zones.
Oman, which hosts thousands of Indian expatriate workers, has traditionally maintained a neutral diplomatic stance in regional conflicts. However, the latest attack highlights the growing risks faced by civilians amid the escalating geopolitical crisis.
