The victim has been identified as Rao Danish Ali, a computer teacher at the ABK Boys High School, which is run by the university. The attack took place around 9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, near the Maulana Azad Library canteen—a central hub usually crowded with students and staff.
The Fatal Encounter
According to eyewitnesses and the University Proctor, Professor Mohd. Wasim Ali, Rao Danish was walking near the library when two unidentified men on a motorcycle approached him. Without any prior argument, the assailants opened fire, striking him in the head.
- The Aftermath: Panicked students and university security rushed Rao Danish to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission.
- The Assailants: The attackers reportedly wore masks and managed to flee the campus through one of the gates before the university’s internal security could react.
Police Action and Investigation
Aligarh SSP Neeraj Jadon confirmed that several police teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
- CCTV Footage: Police are currently scanning footage from cameras installed near the Bab-e-Sayed gate and other exit points to identify the motorcycle’s registration number.
