Upon a celebration of a birthday, a deadly shooting, and three young men died in the attack and Bulandshahr erupted in this shocking incident. What started as an innocuous smearing of cake on the birthday boy began to turn violent and deadly.
A birthday party organised late at night at a local gym devolved into physicality and death. The deaths were of Amardeep Saini, Manish Saini, and Akash Saini. Jitu Saini now absconds, the police say, after the episode, and he had been in celebration for his birthday.
Local police officials, accompanied by Antariksh Jain, said they heard gunshots fired at the party late at night. When officers arrived, they found three individuals who had been severely injured by bullet wounds. They were first taken to a local hospital, but died when they got there, doctors say.
The bodies were then shipped for post-mortem investigation. Initial investigation claimed the incident was sparked after one of the victims smeared cake on Jitu Saini’s face at the party. The accused and his group apparently got into an argument with the victims. It seemed an insignificant first tussle, but then it grew very rapidly. Police reports say the accused left the area for a moment but then came back carrying guns.
Witnesses say there were several rounds aimed at the victims of the attack, killing several in a row, with no chance for them to escape. It is believed that as many as seven to eight firearms were fired by the attackers at the scene of the attack. The birthday party argument was a contributing factor, one of those victims’ relatives told me: There had been longstanding grievances between the groups.
He also said he had received a call during the encounter, and he wasn't able to act instantly. Things got worse when the accused returned armed. In response to the incident, police have assembled several teams to hunt down and catch the accused in an effort to find the perpetrator. Multiple suspects are already being interrogated, and all those involved are being targeted for arrest, officials said.
The suspects and their officials will investigate and take tough action, authorities said. Several senior officials showed up at the crime scene, Kalanidhi Naithani among them, inspecting crime scenes. They said the episode illustrated how slight disputes, along with anger and easy availability of weapons, can spiral into disaster.
The attack has sent shock waves throughout the community, igniting protests about the misuse of licensed firearms and fueling violent collisions for no specific reason. What was supposed to be a happy moment became part of irreversible loss, families grieving and a community in shock.
