The Samajwadi Party will also raise concerns on farmers, students, unemployment, law and order and public welfare during the session, he told Times Now.

In his speech to the media ahead of the meeting, Yadav said the legislators of the Samajwadi Party would underline the hardships faced by farmers due to high input cost, low crop prices and delayed procurement. Agriculture is still the backbone of the economy of Uttar Pradesh and many farmers are still not getting what they deserve, he said.

The SP president also said issues of students and young people have to be discussed. Delays in recruitment exams, paper leaks and limited employment opportunities have caused uncertainty among the youth, he said.

He said the opposition would call for a more transparent recruitment process and better educational infrastructure across the state.

Apart from farmers and students, Yadav said the government would be questioned on inflation, health facilities and development projects. He also claimed that many public welfare schemes require closer scrutiny so that benefits reach the intended users.

The BJP will also have to defend its record of governance and provide a case for the achievements in infrastructure, investment, welfare schemes and law enforcement.

Government ministers are likely to detail ongoing development plans and respond to the opposition in the parliament hearing and respond to the opposition's charges.

The Monsoon session will include political business, budgetary and policy decisions affecting the state as well.

Political observers say debates could get heated as both the ruling party and the opposition will be looking to push their narratives ahead of 2019 elections.

The Samajwadi Party has been constantly raising questions about employment, education and agriculture in recent months. “We are here to express our concern to the common people,” Akhilesh Yadav said and said that the government should make democratic debate.

Legislative sessions are a forum for discussion of governance and public policy, political experts say. Issues related to farmers’ income, education reforms, youth employment, and rural development will be well-represented in Uttar Pradesh because they are related to the state’s economy.

As the Monsoon Session starts, the opposition will focus on how well it presents its arguments and how the government reacts to the concerns raised.

The proceedings will shape political discourse in the state and raise issues affecting millions of people living in Uttar Pradesh.
