The digital world is full of Abhay Singh, commonly referred to as the 'IITian Baba'. The former aerospace engineer, who made an amazing story as a wanderer in Mahakumbh 2025 by leaving the high-tech labs of the world to wear saffron robes, has entered into a new phase in his life: marriage.

In the last few months Abhay Singh returned to his Jhajjar home in Haryana with his wife Pratika, a professional engineer from Bengaluru. The couple got married on 15th February 2026, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Maha Shivratri.

The ceremony was held at the Aghanjar Mahadev Temple in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh and is very much like Abhay's way of living and the spiritual world. The couple also got married in court on February 19. The news came to light when they visited Abhay's parents' house near Sasroli village with large crowds of curious locals and followers eager to see the "Baba’s" bride.

Who is the IIT Baba?

He graduated from IIT Bombay with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master's in Design. Corporate career Abhay was working in Delhi and Canada and earning ₹36 Lakh a year. And all that success but also mental health and a feeling of not knowing what to do. And yet, Abhay left his lucrative job to search for the “final truth” to join the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.

How He Became Famous

Abhay became famous for his “modern Monk” look in 2025. He was wearing the traditional ascetic clothes but spoke fluent English and addressed quantum physics and spirituality so far from the stereotype of a sanyasi. His ability to lay out complex Vedic concepts in a scientific manner made him the ultimate celebrity on social media, though there were also problems along the way and a rough short tenure with the Juna Akhada.

The Wedding

Pratika, an engineer from Bengaluru, met Abhay about a year ago and they fell in love. They live in Dharamshala and want to establish a “Sanatan University” to bridge the gap between the modern academic excellence and ancient spiritual wisdom. “Science helps explain the physical world, but its deeper study inevitably leads one to spirituality,” Abhay once said. And it seems that his new journey with Pratika is one of the first steps in that direction.
