According to the woman, the man was introduced to her by her best friend, who believed they would get along well and perhaps even become life partners. The two connected almost immediately, bonding over their conversations and shared sense of humour. However, she was taken aback when he began talking about marriage just four days after they first met.

At the time, the woman had recently started college and was not ready to think about marriage. As they continued getting to know each other, she realised their long-term goals were very different. She explained that she had always wanted to move abroad and pursue a career in research. Having spent much of her life outside India, she found it difficult to adjust to living in the country again. She also revealed that her severe dust allergy had negatively affected her health, making daily life challenging.

The man, on the other hand, had no plans to leave India. A software engineer at a reputed company and the only child in his family, he intended to stay back and eventually take over his father's successful furniture business.

Despite her polite refusals, the man continued trying to convince her to reconsider. Believing that her family's financial struggles were the reason behind her decision, he reportedly began sending his salary slips and other financial documents to demonstrate that he was financially capable of supporting her.

The woman clarified that money was never the issue. She repeatedly explained that her decision was based on personal aspirations, health concerns, and her desire to build a future abroad. She also mentioned that concerns about women's safety in India played a role in her thinking.

In response, the man assured her that he would always prioritise her happiness and safety. He promised to provide a comfortable lifestyle, create a healthy living environment, and even take her on international vacations three times a year. While she appreciated his sincerity and good intentions, she felt these promises could not overcome their fundamental differences in life goals.

Reflecting on the experience, the woman admitted she had often joked with her best friend that she would only marry someone wealthy. Ironically, she said she had no idea the man was financially well-off until he started sharing details about his income. The incident ultimately made her realise that financial status alone is not what she values in a life partner.

Her post has since attracted widespread attention online, with many social media users praising her honesty and saying the story highlights an important lesson: while financial stability is valuable, shared values, compatible life goals, and mutual understanding are far more important for a successful relationship.
