The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 starts today, March 26, but the tournament has already attracted a lot of buzz, so far, although nobody told me anything. A bizarre and “gassy” argument that seems to happen between Multan Sultans' captain Mohammad Rizwan and Karachi Kings’ captain David Warner went viral on social media on Sunday at today, a press conference set up by an international TV outlet to promote the league’s captains’ performances in advance of the tournament.
The Incident: Professionalism Slip Up?
When the captains from the eight expanded franchises gathered to talk to the media then, at least once it started to get to the table the meeting was quite formal. But as the journalists asked questions that got to the point everyone else in the room had been asking the question, the atmosphere changed and all around the 33-34 seconds when Mohammad Rizwan released a loud fart from his seat there, all the other captains in the room took a few moments in mute attention.
The surprise jolted players to giggles and hushed whispers about the incident, briefly disturbing the professional mood of the game. When Rizwan’s “accidental” moment has since been dissected for decades on memes and “trolls” that it was David Warner who took the headlines.
David Warner’s "School Kids" Retort
Warner, an international cricket legend in all forms who goes one of the hardest with the game and a professional one in the media, clearly didn’t find it acceptable to stay focused. The other captaingers would laugh and distract the audience and Warner, who is making his debut this year at Karachi Kings, hit back with a harsh rebuke.
Excuse me, gentlemen," Warner said, looking at his classmates. “I didn’t realise we had school kids in the room today."
Warner’s “school kids” comment is a clear indication he was looking for a bit more mature attitude now. Warner is well known (in his own opinion) for his"TikTok" tactics and fun, but so is being so strict for taking the honor of the institution of play to a higher level he even wasn’t sure he could tolerate it in front of the other local players.

Promising Season PSL 2026: A Season of High Stakes
Apart from the locker-room banter, both players are also playing the stakes high. In what is being referred to as Pakistan Cricket’s biggest PSL yet (8 teams and 44 matches); David Warner who scored 368 runs last year, is looking to lead Karachi Kings to their first title. On the other hand, Mohammad Rizwan, even with recent trolling on one hand and yet to come this season, is still the best of Pakistan cricket leading a huge Rawalpindi Pindiz team.
The tournament starts today in Gaddafi Stadium ( Lahore) after which the two champions, Lahore Qalandars, go on to face the newcomers Hyderabad Kingsmen. While the “press conference incident” provided viral levity, the fans are now ready for the “explosive” action on the pitch.
