Audi first introduced the large and premium SUV Q9 to its global portfolio for the first time as a luxury carmaker, and the '9' badge comes to an SUV. The new Q9 stands above the excellent Audi Q7 and is the second three-row SUV for those looking for luxury, space, and performance.
The luxury SUV will be launched in India in the second quarter of 2027. We expect it to be manufactured locally to remain competitive in the premium SUV market. Once it is launched, the Audi Q9 will then compete directly against all the old-school luxury SUV competitors like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and other premium full-size luxury SUVs.
For the rest of the world, the Audi Q9 is being manufactured at the company’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia, which is home to a number of high-end SUVs for the Volkswagen Group. International deliveries of the flagship SUV will begin in November 2026.
Audi has priced the Q9 at €108,400, which is roughly ₹1.18 crore before taxes and import duties. The India pricing will be much higher due to local taxes and optional equipment, but local assembly could help Audi position the vehicle competitively.
Premium Design and Road Presence
Audi Q9 has a commanding road presence, and it’s a brand new and bold and sleek design language. The SUV has the big, bold, and modern Audi Singleframe grille, sleek LED headlamps, sculpted body lines, and muscular proportions that accentuate its flagship proportions.
The generous space of its interior makes it one of Audi’s best-designed SUVs. The Q9 was designed for families and buyers who want three rows of seating in comfort but at the same time luxury.
Luxurious Three-Row Cabin
Inside, the Audi Q9 features a premium cabin with advanced technology and high-quality materials. The three-row seating setup allows for a comfortable space for up to seven passengers.
The interior is expected to be Audi’s latest digital cockpit, with multiple touchscreen displays, premium leather upholstery, ambient lighting, advanced connectivity features, a panoramic sunroof, and a whole host of driver assistance technologies.
Passengers in all three rows will also benefit from better legroom, comfort features, and generous luggage capacity.
Performance Options
So far, there has been only one Q9 that has been released in the international market, but that was the standard model, and the firm has already announced a performance-oriented SQ9 for the world market. The SQ9 should be more powerful, sportier, and have more powerful driving dynamics for those who want a sportier luxury SUV.
Audi will also offer petrol, diesel, and mild-hybrid powertrain options globally to customers, depending on the specific markets.
India Launch
Audi India will launch the Q9 in Q2 of 2027 and build its luxury SUV portfolio. Local production will give the brand competitive pricing and strengthen its position in India’s expanding premium SUV market.
With its wide-ranging interiors, state-of-the-art technology, and premium craftsmanship, the Audi Q9 is going to be one of the most important luxury SUV launches in India next year.
