Citroen eC3X Launched in India at ₹10.25 Lakh; BaaS Option Brings Entry Price Down to ₹6.89 Lakh

Citroen has been a part of India’s growing electric vehicle market with its new eC3X. The French automaker has introduced the electric crossover at an introductory price of ₹10.25 lakh (ex-showroom), while a unique BaaS (Battery as a Service) ownership model reduces the initial cost of buying an electric vehicle to only ₹6.89 lakh, making ownership by a wide range of customers easier.

This launch comes at a time when the demand for affordable electric vehicles is rising rapidly in India. With increasing fuel prices, government incentives and a growing charging infrastructure network, many people are looking into electric mobility for their daily commuting needs. Citroen intends to capitalise on this trend with affordable, practical and modern features.

One of the biggest highlights of the new eC3X is that battery-as-a-service is available. Buyers can purchase the vehicle for a considerably lower initial cost and charge for battery usage separately for the kilometres travelled. This is an efficient way to overcome one of the biggest barriers to EVs being adopted, the high initial cost of battery packs.

The Citroen eC3X has a 29.2 kWh battery pack and has a driving range of up to 320 kilometres on a single charge. This range is expected to be suitable for urban commuters and families looking for a vehicle that can be used daily. The electric crossover also has fast charging, which means that users can recharge the battery faster and have less downtime.

As for the specifications, the eC3X also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, digital instrument display, and modern convenience features for driving. Safety has also been addressed; six airbags and several standard safety systems have been added to the vehicle to enhance occupant protection.

The car also has some new features (with Citroen’s new product strategy) that make it a better vehicle (better lighting, better cabin comfort, more comfortable driving and more technology features) and features to offer, such as LED lighting, and more. These upgrades are designed to make the eC3X more competitive in India's growing battery electric vehicle (EV) market, and it is more competitive now that there is a lot of competition.

Citroen has a high pricing strategy that would be attractive to first-time EV buyers and could help attract the first buyers looking for an affordable entry point into electric mobility. The BaaS model, in particular, is one model that could change how people think about the idea of EVs by separating battery costs from vehicle costs.

Bookings for the Citroen eC3X are already available in India, with deliveries to be made soon. As competition for affordable electric vehicles intensifies with rising prices for this new eC3X, the new Citroen eC3X offers an affordable option for those who want to buy an electric vehicle with a low initial investment.
