Mahindra & Mahindra has an ambitious product offensive planned for the first half of 2027: five new or updated models will be launched in India by June. The Scorpio Lifestyler lifestyle pickup, the production version of the Vision S concept, and the BE 07 electric SUV are some of the most awaited vehicles.
The remaining two introductions will be a new light commercial vehicle and an update to an existing model. The company announced plans for the two introductions during its Q2 FY27 results media briefing.
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s Auto and Farm Sectors, said that the automaker has five major launches lined up for first half of 2027. This announcement shows SUV thrust, electric vehicles, and expansion in different vehicle segments is still on.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Pickup Expected in April 2027
The Scorpio Lifestyler is one of Mahindra’s big launches and it will reportedly be launched in April 2027. The lifestyle pickup is based on the Global Pik Up concept shown by the company in 2023 and unveiled in August 2026.
The vehicle has the body-on-frame architecture of the Scorpio N SUV. Mahindra has said that its starting price could be less than ₹19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Engines are expected to be the 2.2-litre diesel engine from Scorpio N (175hp) and a 2.0-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine producing 203hp. Manual and torque converter automatic six-speed gearboxes will also be available.
A four-wheel-drive system is also expected to be offered. When launched, Scorpio Lifestyler will go head-to-head with lifestyle pickups like Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
Mahindra BE 07 to Expand Electric SUV Portfolio
The BE 07 will be the second model under Mahindra’s BE electric vehicle sub-brand (after the BE 6).
Recent sightings of test vehicles have given us a glimpse into its interior. The electric SUV will have a triple-screen dashboard, a glass roof with illuminated elements, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
Other expected features are a dashcam, Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and five seats.
The BE 07 will be based on Mahindra’s INGLO electric vehicle platform, which also underpins the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S.
Battery packs could be the 59kWh and 79kWh ones offered with the BE 6. Mahindra hasn’t announced final battery specs, driving range or equipment yet.
The upcoming electric SUV will compete with the Tata Harrier EV, VinFast VF7 and BYD Atto 3.
Production Version of Mahindra Vision S Concept
Another important upcoming model is the production version of Vision S concept which Mahindra showcased in August 2025.
It will be the first model based on the company’s new NU_IQ platform. Mahindra has said before that SUVs developed on this architecture would enter production in 2027.
The NU_IQ platform is multi-powertrain (petrol, diesel, hybrid and fully electric) enabled.
The Vision S-based production SUV will be under four metres long and could sit above the XUV 3XO in Mahindra’s lineup.
Spy images of test vehicles show a boxy exterior design with short front and rear overhangs, flush door handles and a panoramic sunroof. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel is also visible.
Inside, the SUV looks to have a two-spoke steering wheel similar to that on XUV 7XO and a touchscreen similar to the one in Thar range (10.25 inches).
Mahindra Plans Major Manufacturing Capacity Expansion
Along with its upcoming launches Mahindra is also increasing production capacity for SUVs and electric vehicles.
Jejurikar said that the company was operating at or just a little above its existing manufacturing limits. At the end of September 2026, combined monthly production capacity for SUVs and EVs was about 68,000 units.
Mahindra plans to take this capacity up to 82,000 units by the end of FY27. The monthly capacity planned is 70,000 for internal combustion engine SUVs and 12,000 for electric vehicles.
It is also looking at an additional 10,000 units of NU_IQ capacity at its Chakan plant. This will take the company’s total monthly SUV and EV capacity to about 92,000 units by March 2028.
The company is planning to expand further through a new plant in Nagpur. The plant will add 20,000 units per month by September 2029 and another 20,000 units by September 2030.
Mahindra's 2027 Product Strategy
The launches are part of Mahindra’s strategy to expand its presence in the lifestyle pickup, compact SUV and electric SUV segments.
The Scorpio Lifestyler will go after buyers looking for a lifestyle pickup and BE 07 will expand the company’s electric SUV line up. The Vision S based model will bring NU_IQ platform to production range.
Five products are slated for launch by June 2027 and manufacturing capacity will increase in the years to come so Mahindra is gearing up for a big expansion of its Indian vehicle portfolio.
