The company’s total sales include domestic sales, supplies to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and exports. Maruti Suzuki sold 1.85 lakh units in the domestic market in September including passenger vehicles and the Super Carry light commercial vehicle. This was far higher than the 1.36 lakh units in the same month in the previous year.

Maruti Suzuki passenger vehicle sales are up.

Maruti Suzuki's domestic passenger vehicle sales were at 1.82 lakh units in September 2026, compared to 1.33 lakh units in September 2025. This corresponds to 37 per cent year-on-year growth and it underlines the strong performance of the company’s core passenger vehicle portfolio.

Mini, compact and mid-size cars remained one of the major contributors to the company’s monthly numbers. Models such as Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Swift and WagonR are part of this category. Sales for all these models in September 2026 were 91,887 units compared to 74,090 units in September last year.

The strong performance of popular vehicles like WagonR and Dzire shows that Maruti Suzuki is still well established in India’s mass market passenger vehicle segment. This is for practical city cars, family sedans and fuel-efficient vehicles.

Utility vehicle sales see strong growth!

Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle portfolio also got a pretty good performance in September. The company sold 78,911 utility vehicles in September, compared with 48,695 units in September 2025. The segment includes many of the automaker's popular SUVs and MPVs such as Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris and XL6.

Driven by consumer demand for SUVs and SUV-inspired vehicles, the utility vehicle category has come to be a very important one for automakers in India and Maruti Suzuki has been expanding its portfolio in that space and is now also leading the way in this category of utility vehicles.

The Eeco sales in September 2026 were 11,040 units. In comparison, the company sold 10,035 units of the model in September 2025.

Exports Cross 44,000 Units

Maruti Suzuki also continued to maintain a strong export performance in September 2026. In September 2026 it exported 44,219 vehicles to international markets, compared to 42,204 vehicles exported in September last year. This represents an increase of about 4.77 per cent year-on-year.

The automaker also provided 6,542 units to other OEMs during September. This was lower than the 11,750 units supplied to other manufacturers in September 2025.

When domestic passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle sales are combined with supplies to other OEMs, Maruti Suzuki's total domestic sales were around 1.92 lakh units during the month.

Maruti Suzuki H1 FY2026-27 Sales

The company’s performance in September also contributed to a strong first half of the 2026-27 financial year. Between April and September 2026, Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 13.79 lakh units. During the corresponding period of the previous financial year, the automaker's total sales were 10.79 lakh units.

Domestic sales, including supplies to other OEMs, were 11.47 lakh units in the first half of FY2026-27 with exports at 2.33 lakh units.

For the passenger vehicle portfolio, utility vehicle sales in the April-September period were 4.56 lakh units, compared to 3.17 lakh units in the same period a year ago. The sales of mini, compact and mid-size cars were 5.51 lakh units in the first six months of the financial year.

The Eeco also contributed to the company's overall performance, registering 73,454 units during the April-September period. In total, domestic passenger vehicle sales for the first half of FY2026-27 were 10.80 lakh units.

The September sales numbers are a watershed period in India's automotive calendar and manufacturers usually see consumer interest around the festive season. Maruti Suzuki's impressive performance in the compact car and utility vehicle segments shows there was widespread demand in all areas. With the WagonR and Dzire in the compact and mid-size segments and large utility vehicle volumes, the company has started the second half of FY2026-27 with a lot of momentum.
