Mercedes-Benz India achieved the company’s best sales performance for the first time in its history in January-September of 2026 and reached 15,000 units sold. In the first nine months of the year, the luxury carmaker sold 15,190 vehicles, an 8 per cent increase compared with 14,132 units sold in 2025.
The company also reported its best-ever third quarter in India with sales of 5,422 vehicles being reached from July to September 2026 with a 6 per cent year-over-year growth rate from 5,119 vehicles sold in Q3 last year. Mercedes-Benz said the performance was due to the expansion of its luxury range, new products, increased interest in electric vehicles and the continuation of customer demand for long wheelbase models.
Mercedes-Benz Posts Strong Q3 Growth In India
The third quarter was particularly strong for Mercedes-Benz India as sales rose 17 per cent compared to the second quarter of 2026. It said festive demand, together with a Dream Days campaign, as well as new financial offerings helped in the improvement.
Demand remained healthy in Mercedes-Benz India’s Top-End Luxury, Core Luxury and Entry Luxury divisions during the first nine months of the year. The Core Luxury segment of the business is still the core of the business and contributes around 60 per cent of total sales.
C-Class, long-wheelbase E-Class, GLC and GLE were the most popular in the segment. The long-wheelbase E-Class is still the most popular luxury model in Mercedes-Benz India and the demand for high-end models with rear seat space remains high.
Core Luxury Segment Remains The Biggest Contributor
The Core Luxury product portfolio of Mercedes-Benz is still very much a part of the company’s Indian sales plan. The premium segment is for customers looking for high-end vehicles and has a wider range of products with a lot more products than the ultra-luxury side of the market.
The C-Class is still the main entry point into the brand’s sedan portfolio and the E-Class still appeals to a more luxurious luxury sedan customer. The GLC and GLE are also selling well for SUV sales.
The continued popularity of these models suggests that premium vehicles in India are not only high-priced but also a niche product category. Luxury sedans and SUVs below the company’s flagship models are also on top of demand.
Top-End Luxury Sales Rise 13 Per Cent
Mercedes-Benz's Top-End Luxury segment also exhibited strong growth in the first nine months of 2026. Sales in this category were up 13 per cent year-on-year and accounted for more than 25 per cent of the company's overall sales.
The portfolio includes models like the S-Class, GLS, Mercedes-Maybach range, AMG G 63 and V-Class. Mercedes-Benz says customers in this class are still very interested in highly personalized vehicles.
The Manufaktur personalisation programme accounted for 75 per cent of Top-End Luxury vehicle sales in January-September. The figures highlight the willingness of premium buyers to customise vehicles with exclusive specifications and individual design elements.
Mercedes-AMG also performed very well and saw 18 per cent growth in the first nine months of 2026. The EQS Maybach SUV was also a very good performer, with sales growing 68 per cent year-on-year.
Mercedes-Benz EV Sales Grow Despite Limited Availability
Electric vehicles are now an increasingly important part of Mercedes-Benz India’s business and the company’s EV portfolio grew at a 16 percent rate in the first nine months of 2026.
The automaker said demand was still strong as electric models were still very much in demand despite limited supply of some electric models. The new CLA BEV has been a particularly strong performer and has received more than 1,000 confirmed orders.
The response to the electric sedan has also extended the delivery timeline, with Mercedes-Benz indicating that some deliveries could continue until March 2027. There is also a strong response to the electric sedan that is indicative of a growing number of technology-oriented and younger premium customers who are attracted to the high-end and tech-savvy class of customers with less-concrete demand for electric luxury cars.
Other Mercedes-Benz electric models such as EQS SUV, EQS Maybach SUV and G 580 still have customers in India’s luxury market. The company is therefore expanding its electric portfolio while keeping its petrol-powered and performance-oriented models very much in touch.
Mercedes-Benz Has More EV Launches Planned
The strong demand for EVs now stands to propel Mercedes-Benz to launch more electric and electrified products in India before the end of 2026. The new electrified S-Class will be delivered from mid-October.
Next up is the Mercedes-Benz GLC BEV which will arrive in India on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will be just one more model in the company’s growing battery-powered portfolio.
Mercedes-Benz is going into the last months of the year doing extremely well. The new models should give consumers more options in the electric powertrain category and the automaker will be able to take part in the premium electric car market.
New S-Class Demand Remains Strong
The electrified S-Class has also attracted wide-ranging customer interest. Mercedes-Benz said the top-spec Manufaktur Edition is sold out for the entire year and there is always more demand for highly customized luxury vehicles.
There are still a limited number of Exclusive Line units available for customers who want to order them. The response to the new S-Class shows that premium customers still value flagship luxury models even as the market slowly moves towards electrification.
Mercedes-Benz India is one of the top three in sales in all of its core models and is always very optimistic about the future for the category.
The record January-September sales and best-ever Q3 performance of the company are all testament to the resilience of India's luxury car market. With GLC BEV and electrified S-Class coming in with a fresh flavor, Mercedes-Benz will now hope to build on its 15,190-unit performance and finish 2026 with another strong sales result.
