MG Hector Special Editions Launched: What Changes In Blackstorm And Snowstorm?

JSW MG Motor India has launched two special editions of the MG Hector for customers who want a more interesting look with the Blackstorm and Snowstorm editions. Both are available in India for around Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom and will be produced in limited numbers.

The new versions feature different exterior colour schemes, dark interior design and edition-specific accessories and will be equipped with the same equipment and mechanical setup as the top-spec Savvy Pro trim.

MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm are only available in the five-seat configuration with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and CVT. The special editions cost Rs 35,000 more than the corresponding top-spec Savvy Pro CVT versions; the extra amount covers their unique design and special-edition features.

The launch expands the Hector's existing range by offering buyers two different visual themes. The Blackstorm is all black on the inside and the Snowstorm has a light body colour and dark elements on the outside. The mechanical package remains the same so customers are paying for the new design and personalisation rather than more performance or equipment.

MG Hector Blackstorm And Snowstorm: Exterior Changes

The MG Hector Blackstorm has an all-black exterior theme. The dark exterior finish is meant to make the SUV look more aggressive with blacked-out parts and dark chrome in parts of the vehicle. The grille, roof rails, LED headlamp bezels and other exterior components are all covered.

The MG Hector Snowstorm is more of a contrast with a Pearl White body and a Starry Night-coloured roof. This gives the SUV a two-tone look with the same dark colour as the Blackstorm edition but with more of the darker style. So buyers can choose between the Blackstorm's black colour scheme and the Snowstorm's white-and-dark colour scheme.

Both editions have blacked-out alloy wheels and red brake calipers. The grille and roof rails are also dark and dark chrome accents are used for the MG logos, skid plates, tailgate and body-side cladding. LED headlamp bezels have been blacked out and the tailgate has a smoked finish which adds to the updated appearance of the exterior.

But these changes separate the two special editions from the standard Hector without changing the SUV's overall design or proportions. That limited-production approach also makes them more upmarket for consumers who want a more individual look.

Interior Features And Optional Storm Series Package

The dark styling theme continues in both special editions. The dashboard and seat upholstery are black and not only the interior but also the interior looks good. The edition name is also on the front headrests and it’s a special edition detail.

Apart from these visual changes, the equipment list is the same as that of the top-spec Savvy trim. So the Blackstorm and Snowstorm focus on styling and personalisation instead of a substantially different feature package.

Customers can also opt for an extra Storm Series package. This package will include edition-specific logos, a red accent on the tailgate, fog lamp garnish, outside rearview mirror protectors with red accents and side-step boards. These accessories allow you to customize the SUV's look.

The optional package is separate from the shared styling elements to allow buyers to decide if they want the additional accessories. Before booking, customers must confirm the package's price and availability with an authorised MG dealership.

Engine, Transmission, And Seating Options

Both MG Hector Blackstorm and Snowstorm use the familiar 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It produces 143hp and 250Nm of torque, and is paired with a CVT automatic transmission.

There is no manual gearbox option for either special edition. Buyers also do not get the seven-seat layout, as both versions are only offered in the five-seat configuration. Therefore, customers who require extra seating will need to consider other variants in the Hector range.

Since the engine and transmission are unchanged, the special editions have the same basic powertrain configuration as the corresponding Savvy Pro CVT versions. The difference is in the colour of the vehicle, dark styling, cabin treatment and accessories.

What MG Motor India Says

Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said the Storm Series is a bolder expression of style and individuality and that the Hector’s legacy is built on the Storm Series.

The Hector Blackstorm and Hector Snowstorm give customers a unique way to personalise their SUV, but still have the technology, safety, comfort and refinement that comes with the Hector experience, he said.

With these editions, MG is targeting buyers who want a more distinctive-looking SUV without moving to a different engine or transmission combination. Blackstorm and Snowstorm are the two different designs with shared dark accents and optional accessories.

For prospective buyers, the main consideration will be the preferred exterior theme, the additional cost in comparison to the Savvy Pro CVT version and the limited-run editions. Anyone interested in either of these two versions should discuss the final on-road price, optional package prices and delivery date with their nearest authorised MG sales representatives.
