Royal Enfield is getting ready to expand its adventure motorcycle line-up with the new Himalayan 440.
The new bike will launch in India on September 4, 2026 at Royal Enfield Himalayan Basecamp in Leh, Ladakh. The launch also marks an important milestone for the Himalayan family the original Himalayan 411 was launched in 2016.
The Himalayan 440 will find a place in Royal Enfield's portfolio in the future between the Scram 440 and Himalayan 450.
The bigger Himalayan 450 has performance and modern adventure touring but the new 440 will be simpler and possibly more accessible for people who are looking for a daily adventure motorcycle.
Expected Engine and Performance
According to reports, the Himalayan 440 will be based on the Scram 440 platform and 443cc LS440 engine. The Scram 440 engine produces around 25.4 hp and 34 Nm of torque.
Royal Enfield will have similar mechanical specifications for the Himalayan 440, but the final specification will only be announced at launch.
The motorcycle is also expected to have a more adventure-oriented chassis and wheel setup. Reports point to a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel that would give it a stronger off-road orientation than the Scram 440's 19-inch front wheel.
Himalayan 411-Inspired Design
Design could be one of the major attractions. The Himalayan 440 will bring back the familiar, rugged character of the Himalayan 411 and the new 440cc mechanical package from the Himalayan 411 while adding it to it.
The motorcycle could appeal to riders who liked the straightforward nature of the Himalayan 411 but want a newer engine and updated hardware. It will be a great choice for touring lovers who do not necessarily require the higher performance and technology of the Himalayan 450.
Expected Price and Competition
Price hasn’t yet been announced. Current estimates are for Himalayan 440 around ₹2.5 lakh ex-showroom but the final number might depend on the variant and equipment.
The motorcycle could compete with Suzuki V-Strom SX, Yezdi Adventure and KTM 250 Adventure, and Royal Enfield customers would get another option in its own adventure range.
With the launch date set for September 4, we expect more information on the Himalayan 440 specifications, features, variants and pricing to be known soon.
This combination of Himalayan 411-inspired design and Scram 440-based hardware would make it one of Royal Enfield's most interesting launches of 2026.
