The scheduled maintenance announcement said power supply would remain suspended from 9 AM to 5 PM in several residential layouts, commercial establishments, educational institutions and other important locations in surrounding areas.

The outage will mainly affect areas in C-7 Sub Division of Hebbal Division. People and businesses in these localities have been asked to take note of the scheduled power cut and make preparations accordingly. The eight-hour shutdown is being carried out so that urgent maintenance work at Kattigenahalli substation can be done.

Maintenance work is required for inspection of electrical infrastructure, checking of technical issues and improvement in reliability of power supply. But this temporary interruption may inconvenience houses, offices, shops and other establishments which depend on uninterrupted electricity for their day-to-day activities.

As per the list released in connection with the maintenance work, power cuts will be imposed on North Gate 1, North Gate 2 and North Gate 3 areas as well as Embassy area, Om Sai Layout, Kempegowda Layout and Surabhi Layout. Shivanahalli residents, BWSSB premises, Palanahalli, Venkatala and Dwarakanagar too will have to suffer power cuts during the hours mentioned above. Century Horizon area and premises around Philips Company have also been included in the list of places where electricity supply may be interrupted.

Several other residential and developing areas will also be affected by the scheduled work. They are Ambedkar Nagar, Neerantra Layout, Babanagar and Kattigenahalli surrounding areas. Bagalur Cross Junction and Bagalur Main Road are some of the important places where power supply is likely to be disrupted. People living & working in these areas should plan their activities accordingly (those depending on electrical equipment, water pumps, etc).

The shutdown will also cover the areas around Manipal College, BSF and PDMS. Bagalur Area Cross and Vinayaka Nagar Cross and nearby localities are among those areas where temporary power cuts may occur. Educational institutions, offices, commercial establishments, and residents in these places may have to change their schedules so that they are not inconvenienced during the maintenance period. Computer refrigeration machinery and other electrical equipment, depending on the business, should make alternative arrangements wherever required.

The power cut will start at 9 am on October 31 and end at 5 pm. Residents are advised to charge mobile phones, laptops, etc. before the shutdown starts; households with electric water pumps can store enough water in advance also; shops, offices and other commercial establishments can plan important electricity-dependent activities outside the maintenance period.

People in the affected localities should also make arrangements if they have work-from-home commitments, online meetings or other activities that need a stable power connection. Those with medical equipment that is dependent on electricity should take precautions and ensure backup arrangements are in place.

The work is being done by KPTCL at the 66/11 kV Kattigenahalli substation, and the scheduled interruption is only for the period mentioned above. People should follow up with the concerned electricity authorities if there are any changes in the maintenance schedule or restoration of supply. Once the work is completed, electricity supply will be restored after that, but it may not be possible to give a time when electricity supply will resume, as it depends on completion of maintenance activities and other operational requirements also.

Residents of Kattigenahalli, Bagalur, Shivanahalli, Venkatala, Palanahalli and other localities mentioned above should therefore plan their day accordingly so that they don’t depend on uninterrupted electricity between 9 am and 5 pm on Saturday. The advance notice is given so consumers can prepare for the temporary shutdown and minimise disruption to their daily routine.
