Sachin Tendulkar has got into a new field beyond cricket by signing up with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. They will explore practical applications of artificial intelligence and encourage more people in India to attempt ChatGPT.
Tendulkar announced the partnership on September 28, 2026 posting on X. He said he looked forward to discovering more things he could do with ChatGPT and sharing useful experiences with others.
Sachin Already Uses ChatGPT
The former India batter said his experience with ChatGPT has already gone well beyond simply asking questions. He said the AI tool helped him plan a family trip and curiosity is one of the reasons he loves using it.
Tendulkar explained that one question often leads to another for him, and ChatGPT has helped that habit while also helping with practical tasks.
ChatGPT Tries to Guess Sachin
As part of the partnership announcement, Tendulkar posted a video in which he challenged ChatGPT to identify him using a maximum of 10 questions.
The chatbot eventually picked Tendulkar. This lighthearted demonstration is a glimpse of how the former cricketer is experimenting with the technology and will be part of the wider partnership campaign.
What will Sachin do for OpenAI?
Tendulkar will share his experiences with ChatGPT and show how the technology can be used in everyday activities like learning, planning and exploring his interests (as reported).
This partnership will show how AI can be approached from a more humble point of view and one in which people’s basic questions and interests are at the core rather than just technology interests.
Tendulkar encouraged people to begin with something they care about whether it is a question, an idea or something they have always wanted to explore.

Why India Is Important for ChatGPT
The partnership comes as OpenAI is expanding its presence in India. OpenAI said in February 2026 that there are more than 100 million weekly ChatGPT users and announced its broader “OpenAI for India” initiative.
The initiative is a collaboration focused on AI infrastructure, enterprise adoption, education and workforce skills. OpenAI also plans to expand its local presence with offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The cricket connection also comes shortly after the BCCI announced ChatGPT as an Associate Partner for India’s home cricket for a two-season period beginning with the West Indies home series and running through March 2028.

Tendulkar retired from international cricket in 2013 but is still one of India’s most recognizable sports figures. His association with OpenAI brings cricket and artificial intelligence together in a campaign to make AI more familiar to a wider audience.
Not much is known about where the partnership is going to be financially, what it will do, and what its schedule and future activities are.
