Vodafone Idea (Vi) has also introduced a unique strategy to attract and retain prepaid mobile subscribers across the country by offering them a free Spotify Premium subscription with recharge plans as low as Rs 250 per month. Premium streaming services are usually limited to higher-priced tariffs. Vi is indeed overturning this trend as it is making the popular music streaming platform available for a much wider audience who don’t want to pay upwards of Rs 400 for monthly telecom services.
To this end, Vi has released three prepaid recharge plans that combine music streaming with data, voice calling and additional entertainment services. The entry-level offer is the popular Rs 250 prepaid plan which is a great option that provides Spotify Premium for free. For this tier, there are 2GB data, 28 days of voice calling and 100 SMS per day.
For a more comprehensive data and entertainment package, the operator offers the Rs 435 Non-Stop Hero prepaid plan. This higher-tier option adds the premium Spotify Premium service, unlimited data usage, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS daily allowance and mobile streaming services for free over a 28-day validity period.
Vi has also released a flexible Rs 230 top-up pack designed to work with existing active recharge plans. This special top-up not only gives the free Spotify Premium subscription but also boosts the user's entertainment library by covering more than 20 additional over-the-top streaming platforms including Zee5 and SonyLiv. And this top-up option provides a huge data benefit of 30GB which is in line with the 28-day validity in the new lineup.
We have made the free music streaming benefit available to new and existing subscribers online and have designed it to be a clear digital process. The customer can simply recharge with one of the Vi plans or top-up packs to get the complimentary music streaming benefit. After the successful recharge, the user simply opens the official Vi mobile app, goes to the benefits section and will be able to receive the Spotify promotion. If the subscriber has an existing Spotify account, or a new one, they will immediately receive the free Spotify premium tier. As this promotion is part of the monthly recharge cycle, subscribers will be reminded to renew their qualifying plan every month for the free music streaming benefits.
