A shocking murder case has come to light in Faridabad, Haryana, where a senior technology executive and former regional business head of Tech Mahindra’s Asia-Pacific division was allegedly shot dead by his neighbour after a long argument over parking of vehicles and pet waste. Paramjith Dhankhar (41) was reportedly killed outside his house in Sector 21C late Friday night.
Police officials said the accused neighbour, Mohan Sharma, fired around 15 rounds from his licensed gun, but nine bullets hit Dhankhar, killing him on the spot. The incident has created shockwaves in the residential community as well as raised concern about neighbourhood disputes escalating and misuse of licensed guns.
Dhankhar was based in Singapore and was Senior Vice President at Vietnam-based FPT Software Company Limited. He had reportedly gone to Faridabad on November 5 to attend his nephew’s wedding (24 November). What was supposed to be a family visit turned into tragedy when he allegedly got into a fight with his neighbour, which ended fatally with him being shot dead.
Faridabad Murder Case: Tech Executive Killed Over Parking and Pet Waste Dispute
Paramjith Dhankhar and Mohan Sharma lived in the same four-storey residential building in Faridabad’s Sector 21C. Dhankhar lived on the ground floor, while Sharma lived on the second floor. The two families had been repeatedly quarrelling over issues relating to the shared space in their residential building.
Investigators said the dispute had been going on for several days before the shooting. Dhankhar’s family reportedly objected to Sharma’s son taking his pet dog out to defecate in the common parking area. Arguments between the two families grew over it, and hostility increased, they added.
The argument over pet littering and parking arrangements had allegedly turned violent. Police sources said another heated argument took place four to five days before the fatal incident, but the dispute continued despite this clash. The confrontation on Friday night was then said to have resulted from that.
The incident has shown how disputes over common facilities in the flats, parking arrangements and pet issues can turn into serious conflicts if not settled peacefully.
Fatal Shooting Outside Faridabad Residence
The killing took place late Friday night when Dhankhar and Sharma again got into a fight over parking space, police said. Sharma allegedly called Dhankhar out of his apartment before opening fire with his licensed handgun.
The accused is said to have fired around 15 rounds at the technology executive. Nine bullets reportedly hit Dhankhar, and he died on the spot. The sudden firing panicked residents of the residential area as well. Residents came out of their houses, and police were called immediately.
The accused fled from the spot soon after the shooting took place. Police officials reached there and started an investigation into the murder case. The incident has brought serious question mark on use of firearms during personal disputes (especially in residential neighbourhoods where innocent people could also be at risk).
Police Register FIR Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
On the other hand, Surajkund police station registered an FIR on a formal complaint of the victim’s son, Shaurya Dhankhar.
The case has been registered under Section 103(1) of BNS (murder) along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Police have started a detailed investigation to know the sequence of events leading to the shooting.
Crime branch teams, local police and forensic experts were reportedly on the scene soon after. Investigators examined the crime scene and removed empty shell casings from the driveway. The forensic team will analyse evidence to establish circumstances of shooting and help in investigation.
Dhankhar’s body was then sent to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital in Faridabad for postmortem examination. Medical examination will throw more light on what kind of injuries the victim had sustained.
Faridabad Police Launch Manhunt for Accused Neighbour
Faridabad police have launched a manhunt to nab Mohan Sharma, who allegedly fled after the shooting. Police teams crime branch personnel included were reportedly deployed across Faridabad district to trace the accused and locate him.
Faridabad Police PRO Yashpal Yadav said teams have been formed to arrest the accused as soon as possible. The police spokesperson said that efforts were underway to trace Sharma and take him into custody.
Investigators are also looking into the background of the dispute, under what circumstances the confrontation took place and how things unfolded before the shooting. The licensed handgun that was allegedly used in the crime will also be part of the investigation.
The police will gather more evidence, listen to witness statements and analyse forensic findings as part of the investigation. The arrest of the accused will be a first step in establishing the facts of the case and moving through the legal process.
Tech Executive Murder Raises Concerns Over Neighbourhood Violence
The murder of Paramjith Dhankhar has once again focused attention on neighbourhood disputes and violent confrontations. Parking spaces, shared facilities in apartment complexes and pet issues are common problems in apartment complexes and residential buildings, but the alleged use of a licensed firearm here has turned what was personal into a crime.
The incident also raises questions about firearm safety and responsibilities associated with licensed weapons. Licensed firearms are subject to legal restrictions, and misuse can have devastating effects on individuals, families and communities.
Dhankhar’s death has left his family devastated as he had reportedly come from Singapore for a family wedding. Police are still hunting down the accused and trying to piece together the full circumstances of the shooting.
