Monkeys are usually known for their mischievous behaviour, including snatching food from people and creating chaos in public places. However, a clip going viral on social media has shown a rather different side of these animals, with a grey langur seemingly choosing affection over mischief.
In the viral CCTV footage, an unsuspecting mobile store owner appears to be sitting in his shop when a grey langur enters the premises. His friend tries to signal him to move away, but realising that it was too late and any sudden movement could alarm the animal, the shopkeeper decides to remain seated in his chair. A smart choice.

What happens next is perhaps the most shocking and heartwarming part of the video. Instead of creating a scene or grabbing something from the store, the langur approaches the shopkeeper and hugs him multiple times.
The unexpected interaction has melted the hearts of social media users, with many finding the animal's behaviour both adorable and amusing. The clip has also become a source of memes, as people online try to relate to the shopkeeper's reaction and the seemingly affectionate langur.
While monkeys and langurs are often associated with mischief, this encounter has offered viewers a memorable change of pace. The shopkeeper's decision to remain calm, followed by the animal's unexpected gestures, has turned an otherwise ordinary day at a mobile store into an internet sensation.
The clip is a reminder that encounters with wildlife can sometimes produce surprising moments. However, even when an animal appears friendly, it is best to maintain a safe distance and avoid attempting to touch or hug wild animals, as their behaviour can be unpredictable.
The clip seems to have been first posted by @skamir3466 on Instagram with no context or caption but appeared to be CCTV footage from 22 Oct. at 5 P.M. Despite the lack of context, it has gained 11M likes and 161M views in the 18hrs since the clip was posted and is on its way to being immortalized as a heartwarming incident all over social media via memes and internet culture. Maybe it didn't require context because everyone understood and liked the really sweet moment.
