The first part, the most important step, is cleansing. Washing your face twice a day is one helpful way to remove dirt, oil, and pollution that clog pores and cause breakouts. But over cleaning or using harsh products would break down your skin barrier and cause dryness and irritation. Good, mild cleanser is all you need to keep your skin fresh and balanced. The second step is moisturizing a priority some people take lightly. No matter your skin type oily, dry, or combination our skin requires hydration.

Skipping moisturizer can make oily skin worse by triggering excess oil production. The right moisturizer that fits both keeps your skin’s softness, balance, and glow perfect if not a perfect blend and looks good. The last and most powerful step is sunscreen. If you’ll never use SPF, you’re nullifying the entirety of your skincare routine. Sun exposure is one of the main causes for premature aging, dark spots and dull skin.

Do sunscreen on daily basis even when indoors or on cloudy days is protective of skin and helps keep your skin young. While you’re putting together the foundational 1-3 steps, it’s all the more effective if you can build it off of tiny habits. The best ingredients, such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and retinol, are beneficial for the skin when used in the right way, but excessive use can cause irritation.

It’s less about trying something new every week than it is about being consistent. Lastly, don’t pretend like your lifestyle doesn’t matter. “Making sure that you drink enough water, eat healthy food, sleep well, have enough time to relax really changes the whole way in which your skin looks,” she said. The bottom line? You don’t need a sophisticated routine just the right habits, and done consistently, to achieve that naturally glowing skin.
