Valentino Garavani Passes Away at 93 - A Fashion Legend's Legacy

Fashion is grieving the death of a genuine legend, and at that moment traditional Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has passed away at 93. He who founded the worldwide popular Valentino fashion house, and in this moment his death is the death of an era for haute couture and all fashion. He graduated from both the École des Beaux-Arts and the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris but soon was distinguished as having a life’s mission and career in redefining elegance and glamour. He established his eponymous fashion house in Rome in 1960 and attracted great attention for his exquisite craftsmanship, luxurious fabrics and sophisticated styles. His signature scarlet, “Valentino Red,” rapidly gained global notoriety and became the emblem of the beauty and dynamism of the luxury fashion label.

Valentino also dressed some of the most influential women of all time from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Princess Margaret, and it is considered as much like the "emperor of fashion". His pieces adorned red carpets, royal weddings and at major festivities, and he gained respect from royalty and Hollywood stars, as well as the international jet set. Valentino was known for his exaggerated silhouettes, painstakingly tailored accessories and ageless features, and his dresses celebrated femininity and elegant beauty.

Valentino had become a name in fashion through the early 2000s, when he announced his retirement from his fashion house in 2008 and gained power in the fashion industry.
