The 98th Academy Awards (Oscars 2026) delivered a memorable night in Hollywood, with “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” dominating the ceremony while films like “F1” and “K-Pop Demon Hunters” also secured major wins across categories.
Held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, the ceremony celebrated the best films and performances of the year.
The night’s biggest honour, Best Picture, went to “One Battle After Another”, which also won several other awards including Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Casting.
Another major winner was “Sinners”, which earned multiple Oscars including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography. Jordan’s victory marked his first Academy Award, thanks to his performance playing twin brothers in the film.
Meanwhile, the animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters” made history by winning Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for the track “Golden,” becoming the first K-pop song to win an Oscar.
Racing drama “F1” also took home an Oscar for Best Sound, while “Avatar: Fire and Ash” won Best Visual Effects.
One of the historic moments of the night came when Autumn Durald Arkapaw won Best Cinematography for Sinners, becoming the first woman ever to win the category in Oscar history.
