Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has finally broken the silence after the federation's non-cooperation directive of FWICE that prompted him to walk away from Don 3.
But just hours after the federation announced the decision, Ranveer Singh issued a statement from a representative expressing himself calmly and respectfully as he got to the topic of the affair, for the first time. The announcement claimed the actor treasures “the film fraternity and just about every person associated with the Don franchise,” and has a strong word for it.
Ranveer Singh, however, is not unsympathetic to the concerns expressed by the federation. He has taken every precaution to make progress with his acting career and has spent a lot of time with the company's team to get through the task.
The spokesperson then said, “Ranveer Singh holds in high esteem the film unit and the Don franchise fraternity, and everyone around the franchise and its alumni with respect. With Don 3 being so recent as it is, he had purposefully decided to stay mum in professional conversations, he said, thinking they are best done with dignity, maturity & mutual respect.”
And it says he hasn’t felt that he needed to react and keep speculation circulating publicly despite multiple public narratives and speculated discussions in which he never felt like he needed to engage or feed into unnecessary talk. And the actor’s personnel said that he did hope all around the franchise was a success, and he also consciously kept everything to himself and made it that way.
The incident came to light following speculation that Ranveer Singh withdrew from Don 3 before production started. The film is rife with tension, but it has been released, and this tension has been resolved. Afterwards, it is reported, Excel Entertainment allegedly approached FWICE, saying heavy investment had already been made in the film’s preproduction process.
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani supported the anticipated film, which was finally announced in 2023 and subsequently met with delays for several reasons. FWICE later announced it had issued noncooperation orders for the actor.
Regarding the Indian entertainment industry, such a directive, although very grave in that it restricts federation-affiliated artists, technicians, and associates from associating with them. Directors, actors, cameramen, spot boys, lightmen and technicians registered with FWICE are prohibited from working on projects connected with the person/organisation being targeted under the directive.
Noncompliance with the order could result in penalties for union members or suspension of union members, it says. The spat is looming at a time when Ranveer Singh is achieving big box office numbers. The actor has turned around Dhurandhar and produced two blockbuster hits according to the Dhurandhar franchise that garnered upwards of over Rs 1300 crore worldwide.
Despite that storm of heated debate, it's Ranveer Singh’s career that has never faltered. The actor is also currently taking up filmmaker Jai Mehta’s ambitious post-apocalyptic zombie thriller project with the filmmaker, so he’s going to be working with Aditya Dhar on another big movie, the producer said. The dialogue will still be a lot like it is being worked on between FWICE, the actor and Don 3’s production house.
