The Grand Venue: Bangalore Palace

The stunning Bangalore Palace provided the ideal venue for the nuptials. Renowned for its Tudor-era architecture and huge green fields, the venue was adorned with flora and ceremonial lighting to attract the "Who's Who" of Karnataka. This was a stunning ceremony and the kind of royal Karnataka wedding.

A Star-Studded Guest List

Lahari Velu’s decades-long ties to the music and film industry meant there were an inordinate number of celebrities in the Sandalwood film fraternity at the event:

  • Shivarajkumar: The "Century Star" came to bless the couple, ensuring the marriage between the Rajkumar family and the Lahari house that was long established.
  • Upendra: The "Real Star" worked with the family, and the evening wowed with his trademark wit.
  • Jayamala: The veteran actress and former minister flew in and wished the newly-wed couple her best wishes.
  • Notable Other People: The event was also attended by "Crazy Star" V. Ravichandran's brother Balaji, actor Jaggesh, as well as some of the politicians who went on to speak and be heard, including former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, D.K. Suresh, and MLA Ashwath Narayan, among others.

The Lahari Legacy

Lahari Velu, a huge force in the world of Indian music, has played a major role in the evolution of Lahari Recording Company, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. From buying Premaloka’s rights in the 80s for record sums to the digital icon that they are today, the extent and influence of their family was visible in the enormous influx of artists, composers, and technicians who came for an extra mile to celebrate a milestone for the next generation.

Emotional Moments

Notably, Diya was moved to tears in the Thali (sacred thread) tying ritual and that moment captured the emotion of the very solemn occasion itself, which many of us remember as touching. The couple later welcomed guests at an extravagant reception, where guests said they shared as much enjoyment of the food and decor as they had in viewing the guest list.

Sai Govind's wedding to Diya is another chapter in the saga of the Lahari family, uniting business with tradition and the arts to join another event which Bengaluru will remember most for years to come.
