In a direct and bold response to the ongoing "Star War" in Sandalwood, Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep has broken his silence regarding allegations that he made derogatory remarks about fellow actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. Speaking during a promotional event for his upcoming film Mark, Sudeep challenged his critics to provide proof of any instance where he spoke negatively about Darshan.
The controversy was reignited following Sudeep's recent speech in Hubballi, where he spoke about being "ready for war." While Sudeep clarified he was referring to the fight against film piracy and online sabotage, Darshan's fanbase—and notably Darshan's wife, Vijayalakshmi—interpreted the remarks as a provocation.
The Challenge: "Bring the Evidence"
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Sudeep expressed his frustration over being misquoted and targeted by "anti-social elements" online. He emphasized that throughout their fractured friendship, he has maintained a level of dignity and never resorted to public mudslinging.
"If anyone claims I have spoken ill of Darshan behind his back or on a public platform, let them show it. I challenge them to bring the evidence. I don't believe in backstabbing. If I have something to say, I say it to the face," — Kichcha Sudeep.
Clarification on the "War" Remark
Sudeep clarified that his viral "War" speech from the Hubballi pre-release event was taken out of context. He stated:
- Targeting Piracy: The "war" he spoke of was against those leaking movie clips and orchestrating negative review campaigns against the Kannada film industry.
- Maturity in Conflict: He noted that if he were someone who acted on impulse or sought out controversies, he would have been embroiled in many more disputes over his 28-year career.
- Respect for the Industry: Sudeep reiterated that "Cinema is not just one or two people," and that internal clashes only damage the reputation of the Sandalwood industry.
A Divided Industry: Sudeep vs. Darshan Fans
The rivalry between the two fanbases has reached a fever pitch in late 2025. Following Vijayalakshmi Darshan's comment that "those who talk big disappear when Darshan is around," social media has been flooded with heated exchanges.
