Several regions that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the rockets hit at targeted areas in northern Israel saw air raid sirens in full force and residents rush to shelters. Israel did detect a few rockets but they were said to land far away in open ground and they are trying to determine what they could lose and how many people in Israel would have suffered casualties at home: civilians.

It’s happening just weeks after Donald Trump has attracted national attention. We lack that way of seeing how long this speech is to the rockets, but now we hear it adds to some very real tension in the region with the political landscape around him.

Israeli officials have heavily condemned the attack, warning that a quick response needed to be taken because of the possibility for any quick solution before implementing the measures. Israel will respond, the IDF has announced it intends to retaliate and will attack alleged launch sites in southern Lebanon as well. On the front lines at the line of control it is a very tense situation with a large number of soldiers on high alert.

All of them haven’t claimed responsibility yet, but suspicion has focused on Hezbollah, which has operated in southern Lebanon and has fought two previous border wars with Israel. Israeli officials, however, refused to confirm what happened.

The recent flare-up is only bringing a more volatile situation into play in that area at a time of raging crises of violence and political tensions. But the threats of escalation are high and experts say in addition cross-border bloodletting could cause escalation.

Civilians along the border do remain on edge as schools in some of the cities shut down and emergency services are at a standstill. The U.S. has issued a call for calm and called on all parties in the country to stay away from such demonstrations.

Global attention is on the area, of course, as it gets bigger though if there becomes the potential for much greater disaster if a single mistake can start a war from there and it could lead to international combat.
