At midnight during that time explosion and from fire officials said no injuries are reported and all workers in the facility are safe to be employed, officials said. But the government quickly issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents and told residents to stay in the hush where possible and avoid exposure to toxic gases.

Some initial reports suggest that the blast originated in a heater unit, of course the full extent of the cause remains to be investigated in this matter. Emergency crews are working all over again to quell the fire and contain it because of the extent of the refinery and a lot of fiery matter. Air quality tests are still up under way in the area and so far the health officials say there are no immediate hazardous readings which brings some relief to people in the areas surrounding it.

The Port Arthur refinery is one of the largest in the United States that is capable of processing a total of 435,000 barrels of crude oil per day into gasoline, diesel, and other fuels. And when a prolonged shutdown of the facility might mean oil has become the least important fuel in Gulf Coast areas given the proximity to Texas’ region can affect prices of fuel to other suppliers who produce on the Gulf Coast more.

The local and company authorities and managers that were in charge at the time of the fire have said they will investigate both safety protocols and equipment conditions of the fire. Residents do stay on alert, though and emergency workers continue to put extinguish fire and secure the site back for future firefighting and protection.

The incident highlighted how huge firms operate and what requires safety measures in place to prevent any event coming to that scale’s rescue.
