The Incident

The victim, Arun Raj, is a Patparganj resident and was working his shift as a delivery agent on February 2, 2026. Police said the scene of the incident happened at about 8:15 PM in Mayur Vihar/Pandav Nagar's Acharya Niketan. Witnesses and early investigations indicate that three minors showed up on a motorcycle and tangled violently with Raj for a little while. The fight escalated quickly when the criminals armed themselves with a sharp-edged blade and stabbed Raj in the neck and chest.

Police Response and Concern

On the call of a PCR call, local police came to the scene and discovered Raj, lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead as soon as he arrived on the scene. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania said that he had gathered multiple teams to track the assailants.

CCTV footage from the scene as well as near approach roads have been analyzed, and the police were able to identify the suspects. “The suspect juveniles were arrested after raids at places suspected to be involved. We are pursuing an investigation of the cause for the altercation that resulted in this senseless murder,” a senior officer said.

Rising Concerns Over Safety

Arun Raj's murder was part of a spate of attacks against delivery staff and gig workers in the Delhi-NCR region. Fellow workers and local residents have been taken aback, saying Raj was an industrious and self-respecting guy that just wanted to work for a living. Forensic teams have observed the crime scene, and the weapon is recovered from the crime scene. The three minors are now being held in a juvenile observation home while legal proceedings progress.
