The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has seized a total of 4,738 grams of methamphetamine worth approximately ₹9.40 crore in two separate operations in Mumbai and Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, while also uncovering and sealing a suspected drug manufacturing factory.
One male Israeli and two foreign women were arrested. Also, during the interrogation of the accused, it was found that he had purchased the said drug from a factory in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for sale.
Accordingly, in a raid conducted with the help of local police in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, 2688 grams of 'Methamphetamine' worth Rs. 5,40,00,000/- (Five crore forty lakh rupees in words) and drug manufacturing materials were seized: Additional Director General of Police, Anti-Terrorism Squad, Maharashtra State, Mumbai.
Methamphetamine is a powerful, highly addictive synthetic stimulant that speeds up the central nervous system. It is commonly sold illegally as a white powder, pills, or shiny bluish-white crystals ("crystal meth") and is smoked, snorted, injected, or swallowed.
Medical Status it as rare, highly restricted medical uses (under brand names like Desoxyn) for severe attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or exogenous obesity. Because of extreme misuse potential, almost all circulating methamphetamine is illegally manufactured in hidden labs.
The illegal drugs market in Mumbai is a highly active illicit network dominated by synthetic drugs like Mephedrone (MD / "Meow Meow"), alongside cocaine, hydroponic weed, and heroin.
The trade generated over ₹814 crore in local police seizures in 2025 alone. Law enforcement has heavily intensified operations under the "Drug-Free Mumbai" initiative, using aggressive crackdowns, tech-surveillance, and urban demolitions to disrupt supply chains.
The Maharashtra ATS is expected to continue questioning the arrested individuals and tracing the broader supply chain. Investigators will seek to establish who financed the alleged operation, where the raw materials were sourced, who manufactured the drugs, and how the finished methamphetamine was intended to reach the market.
The authorities will also investigate whether additional people were involved in transporting or distributing the narcotics.
Till now, there have been several raids by the local police and law enforcement throughout the country, yet India is under a strong influence of drugs, especially among youths and college-going teenagers.
It's very distressing that some influential people from our own country are involved in this trade and helping this anti-terrorist organization to manufacture and sell drugs illegally without any fear, and they target college-going teenagers, IT employees, and TV actresses as their clients.
The Maharashtra ATS is continuing its investigation into the case, while the arrested individuals face further legal proceedings.
