Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received Rs 12.10 crore in disclosed contributions in 2025-26 financial year according to report to Election Commission. That is a 68 per cent drop from the party's Rs 38.10 crore disclosed in 2024-25. This report has 1,202 numbered entries and includes contributions from several AAP leaders and companies and electoral trust.
Among the names listed in the report is Ashutosh Ranka, a former AAP spokesperson who later became co-convener of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Ranka contributed Rs 21,100 to AAP during 2025-26, before taking up his role with the CJP. His contribution is one of the smaller amounts listed in the report but has drawn attention because of his subsequent political association.
Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident among Biggest Donors
The biggest contributions reported by AAP came from Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited. Each party gave Rs 5 crore to them, so the two contributions together accounted for about Rs 10 crore, or roughly 83 percent of AAP's total disclosed contributions for the year. The rest of the contributions were about Rs 2.10 crore.
Trident's contribution was made through a cheque dated 9 January 2026. Trident was founded by Rajinder Gupta who had been elected to Rajya Sabha on an AAP ticket in October 2025. Gupta later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in April 2026. So the donation of Rs 5 crore in January 2026 when Gupta was associated with AAP is in the context of the donation and the timing.
In the previous financial year, Prudent Electoral Trust was also a significant source of support for AAP. In 2024-25, it gave the party Rs 16.40 crore when AAP's total disclosed contributions were Rs 38.10 crore.
AAP Donations Fell Sharply In 2025-26
AAP’s latest contribution numbers show substantial variation in the past three financial years. In 2023-24 the party collected Rs 11.06 crore in contributions. That figure rose to Rs 38.10 crore in 2024-25 and dropped to Rs 12.10 crore in 2025-26.
The current financial year was also the first full financial year since AAP lost power in Delhi in February 2025. The party is in government in Punjab.
The contribution figures only include donations that are required to be disclosed in the Election Commission report. Political parties must identify contributions above Rs 20,000 in these reports. So the disclosed amount should not be considered the party's full annual income or the total value of all the contributions that it received in the year.
How much did Arvind Kejriwal donate?
Arvind Kejriwal, AAP national convenor, also appears in the contribution report. According to the filing, he made three separate contributions of Rs 10,000 each in 2025-26.
His total contribution to the party in the financial year was Rs 30,000. The payments are reported separately, not as a single contribution.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is also among the contributors. She paid 12 separate payments of Rs 3,500 each, taking her total contributions for the financial year to Rs 42,000.
AAP's Punjab unit president Aman Arora also made regular contributions. The report lists 12 payments of Rs 10,000 each, amounting to a total contribution of Rs 1.20 lakh during 2025-26.
Ranka's Donation Was Before CJP Role
Ranka's Rs 21,100 contribution is significant mainly because of the timing. The donation was made before he took up his role with the Cockroach Janta Party. So his name is in AAP's contribution report for the period when he was still associated with the party.
The filing itself records the contribution and does not, by itself, establish any connection between the donation and Ranka's subsequent political activities. The contribution is part of AAP’s 1,202 numbered entries to the Election Commission.
What The AAP Donor List Shows
The 2025-26 contribution report provides a snapshot of the donations AAP disclosed to the Election Commission during the financial year. It shows that two Rs 5 crore contributions accounted for the overwhelming majority of the party's reported donations, while individual contributors, including senior party leaders, made much smaller payments.
The figures also highlight the difference between a political party’s contribution report and the party’s actual financial position. Since the Election Commission filing covers contributions above the reporting threshold and not all the contributions received by the party, it does not represent every rupee received by the party. AAP’s audited annual accounts tell a larger story of its finances.
For 2025-26, the disclosed contribution amount was around Rs 12.10 crore, which is much less than Rs 38.10 crore for last year. In addition, the report also lists the contributions from Kejriwal, Atishi, Aman Arora and Ashutosh Ranka as well as the major institutional contributions from Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited.
