Actor Yash’s Mother and GPA Holder Clash Over Land Encroachment in Hassan

Far away, the quiet neighborhood of Vidyanagar in Hassan has been at the center of a high-profile legal and personal tussle involving Pushpa, the mother of Kannada star Yash. A long-standing standoff over a plot of land neighbouring the actor’s home erupted this week, amid explosive clashes between Pushpa and another man, General Power of Attorney (GPA) holder Devaraj, representing the rival claimant.

The Root of the Conflict

The controversy focuses on a 125x45 sq. ft. site set out in Vidyanagar, Hassan. Pushpa asserts that the family legally acquired the property six years ago from a person named Girish, and has real 'E-Khata' papers. In order to protect the boundary, she had recently built a compound wall on site.

But Devaraj, acting for a Mysuru resident, Lakshmamma, claims the land is his client’s. He alleges that the actor’s family illegally constructed and has encroached on about 1,500 square feet of private property.

High-Voltage Drama in Vidyanagar

It was on January 30, 2026, when Devaraj tried to stop some further construction work started, then a violent break out on January 30, 2026, the matter turned sour. This is now at odds with the battle of words between the two sides.

  • The compound demolition: The wall has once again put the wall in the middle of the storm. Earlier in January, Devaraj is alleged to have demolished the compound wall using the JCB (earthmover), in compliance with a court order issued by the 4th JMFC Court in Hassan.
  • Rebuild: After the demolishing Pushpa allegedly tried to rebuild the fence or other compound which brought up a fresh dispute of sorts.
  • Charges: Pushpa responded to Devaraj in a furious way with an explosive demeanor, claiming that he was "in unlawfully entering" to enter her private space and intruding into their private property. The issue is still being reviewed in court and Devaraj simply moved the law into his own hands without any adequate notice, she added.
  • Counter-Narrations: Devaraj insisted in opposing her assertion that she had declared the court had ruled in favour of the former owner Lakshmamma and that the "encroachment" had been cleared as per law. He also said he’d been given “death threats” by friends of the actor’s family.

Legal Setback for Pushpa

It is a courtroom battle that has shifted greatly. More recently, the 4th JMFC Court of Hassan rejected applications by Pushpa and her associate Nataraj in favor of a stay on the demolition order. During the first hearings, the Respondents are not providing enough documentary evidence to prove ownership,” observes the Court. To clarify the parameters and ownership, the court ordered Devaraj to appear at a formal hearing set to take place on January 31, 2026.

Public and Police Response

Vidyanagar has deployed Hassan police, as well as others to ensure that neither the two groups are forced to face physical violence. Senior officers have told the parties to continue as is until the verdict is rendered by the court.

While Yash, his fans, also call him ‘Rocking Star’ and for him, this local feud comes during his peak work on international projects, including Toxic. The actor has not come on the scene but his mother has agreed to battle in the case saying that “vested interests are trying to ruin Yash’s reputation” by turning a legal issue into a spectacle.
