A full four years after release, Yash is primed to make a return to cinema with two highly anticipated films — Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups and Ramayana: Part 1. Although both projects have received unprecedented hype, **Toxic** in particular is proving to be a game changer in Indian cinema.
Yash Reveals ‘Toxic’ Is More Than Just a Gangster Film
While attending the film promotions held at CinemaCon 2026 alongside producer Namit Malhotra, Yash had a fascinating insight on Toxic. Speaking on behalf of Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak, the actor clarified that the film goes far beyond the usual gangster story line.
“This is not your typical gangster action film,” Yash said, pointing out how “very layered” and “so psychological” the film is. He said the film doesn’t just show up as a high-octane action entertainer, but goes into the depths of human psychology and emotional nuances. The actor explained the audience would identify with the story on multiple levels of human beings and behavior through the film. And in that rich story line and dynamic action, Toxic will be a completely one-of-a-kind thing in the genre.
A Unique Vision by Geetu Mohandas
Yash praised director Geetu Mohandas for introducing a new angle to the gangster genre. Working with her was an exciting thing for Yash to do, and he loved her vision for putting his character on display a whole new and thrilling level in his eyes. Not only the action in the movie but also the strong psychological consequences it’s going to have on its viewers. Yash called “Toxic” a “visual treat” that would linger in people’s minds.
Why Dark Characters Excite Yash
In that same experience, Yash discussed how he loves to play shadowy, multi-layered characters. He said these types of roles are extremely creative by nature; actors have been granted huge license to explore a very broad range of character, and it should sound fun. “There is no barrier when you go into a dark character,” he said, describing Toxic’s variety of feelings, looks and performances. Gives us rich depth and scale, as the film features an amazing ensemble cast.
A True Pan-India Experience
Toxic also celebrates India's cultural diversity, Yash emphasized. In all, the movie looks at multilingual and multi-cultural cultures and is indeed a pan-India project. People around the country get a one of a kind cinematic experience — local, universal.
Release Date and Cast
Toxic was originally set to screen on March 19, but a series of global factors — including the Middle East conflict — forced a delay. The movie enters theatres in cinemas on June 4.
The film was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, as well as being dubbed in multiple languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
The movie features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair, along with its star-studded cast.
Made by Venkat K. Narayana at KVN Productions in partnership with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the film is predicted to be one of the single most exciting releases this year.
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups may not be another gangster film, for all its blend of action, psychological depth and richness of culture, is a fully fleshed-out, ambitious film. As Yash returns to the spotlight, the expectations are still high and we are all just weeks away from a June release.
