Anjanadri Hills Devotion: Young Girl Carries 25kg Rice Bag Up 600 Steps

At the deeply holy Anjanadri Hills, it was in this moment of faith that a witness showed on videotape what happened in front of her. At a young girl’s faith in her promise (known as harake), she must have worn a heavy 25‑kilogram rice bag with her on top of it and she had to lift the weight up to 600 steps. For that she took her entire life instead of just hoping she would be recognized. The heartstrings of an audience from those of so many people, but faith is a longer term, stronger force than stress.

The Anjanadri Hills have such steep steps that devotees often climb them for religious piety. The girl, barefoot and sweaty‑looking, went on going every step, following her mission and sticking to her own vow of going all day and night. She kept walking because the rice bag and heat did it in front of her, showing devotion can outweigh your fatigue.

Carrying the rice bag wasn’t only a physical obstacle: It was a symbolically burden– and belief that got through! In many ceremonies, fulfilling a vow is an act of good feeling and wishes for salvation. Her Everest was more than a battle to remain fresh; it was a spiritual battle over why faith was too powerful to work through.

The video launched on social media quickly and they gained the support and respect many people share. And with this scene as an example of “belief over burden” and “faith over fatigue” (I’ll keep coming back to that), the girl’s courage and her faithfulness and her act were called all day to all who worship. The video led to reflection on how faith inspires remarkable things about this life as well as what we would like to do in the next and that life is all about being a person that’s good.

This is more or less how devotion does not look (or feel) like grand gestures, and it’s about doing something sincerely. The girl’s climb proves that faith works in hard work, sacrifice and patience. And it also goes to show how religious beliefs still shape people’s self discipline to that degree. Her climb up the steps of Anjanadri Hills is proof of the power of faith and persistence.

The young girl’s climb at Anjanadri Hills is far more than a viral experience, it’s just a story of devotion, endurance and faith. And by carrying a 25‑kilogram rice bag up nearly 600 steps, she’d made her purpose right and she’d done so courageously and sincerely. But so much will be made out of doubt that faith becomes greater and stamina and duty become spiritual.
