The man killed in Badlapur, Maharashtra, led to a domestic dispute between a wife and husband after a fight over buying sarees and they had to settle in a domestic dispute and the couple had an argument over buying and selling sarees.
A dispute between the couple soon turned violent in their home, police said. The police say the woman got upset when her husband did not buy her sarees as they were supposed to be made and had an argument between the two.
As she was in the fight, she allegedly attacked her husband with the lid of a pressure cooker and seriously injured him, according to police. She later strangled him, said investigators.
Police personnel rushed to the house when they heard about the events and found the man unconscious. Medical officials later confirmed he had died. His body was sent for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death, and help determine how the events occurred and assist in the reconstruction of the sequence of events.
Police registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and took the accused woman into custody. The investigation is on, said officials, forensic experts will continue to examine the scene of the crime and officers will collect physical evidence that could help establish what really happened.
Neighbors, relatives, and other people that may have knowledge of the couple’s relationship or the events leading up to the alleged crime will be recorded, investigators will say. They will investigate whether the family had any disputes before or if other problems led to the crime.
