The accident took place at Dasaragudde in Sajipamunnur village about Mangaluru. The injured woman is Bharathi, one of the inhabitants of Boliyaru village in Ullal taluk.

When Bharathi tried to cross the road, a car hit her. The force was so powerful that she was thrown several feet into the air and landed onto the road.

It was seen by local CCTV cameras and very disturbing video in particular. The accident was sudden and ghastly, people came to look in shock, the witnesses said.

Residents and neighbors rushed onto the scene immediately after the collision to help her. She had to be transported to a hospital for treatment. This individual’s exact medical condition remained unknown, but doctors say her injuries are serious.

Police will examine the CCTV footage to assess the speed of the vehicle and determine if it was caused by bad driving or driver negligence on the part of the car.

Are concerns on road safety rising and the current state is no longer safe to travel?

In the Indian driving context, what this is showing to be is that more people drive recklessly. Road accidents are one of the leading causes of severe injuries or death because of speeding.

Neighbors would love to see a system for enforcing traffic laws as well as speed breakers installed, as well as speed safety sensors in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

Need for Vigilance

Drivers and pedestrians share the road safety responsibility, road safety experts warn. Drivers have to adhere to speed limits on residential and village streets and cross streets at the appropriate point.

The accident would also serve as a grim reminder of how serious a moment of negligence can be a person who is oblivious and simply not thinking can change life. Then corrective action will be taken if it is found that there was something wrong we’re all responsible for ensuring safety on the roads.
