Bengaluru Horror: Woman Allegedly Sets Lover on Fire After Luring Him Home

Allegations that a young man was killed by his girlfriend in a stomach-churning incident reportedly left the city in shock in Bengaluru. The incident took place in the Byadarahalli district in the city, where the accused woman reportedly tied up her lover, poured petrol on him and set him on fire under the rubric of a "Western-style proposal."

Preliminary police investigations, however, revealed that the victim as well as the accused were employees of a private telecommunications firm, which is believed to be Vodafone. Originally, a romance between the two apparently blossomed into a romantic relationship as time went by.

But tensions had apparently surfaced in recent days, with the woman allegedly feeling the man was avoiding or distancing himself from her. On the day of the incident, the victim, who turned out to be Kiran, went to the woman’s residence. No flammable substances appeared to be in his carriage, and at the time of reporting, he was said to have also shown up with a bag on his shoulder.

The woman had lived in the dwelling with her mother and brother, though these men weren’t there at the crime, which created an isolated setting. Police sources indicate they charged a defendant with premeditating the move. She was reportedly in possession of petrol in advance.

By pretending to impersonate a “foreign-style” romantic act, she worked out Kiran’s assent to having her tie his hands and legs (or so Kiran claimed) and blindfold him. When he reportedly requested an explanation as to why the restraints were so strict, she told him this was part of the act.

Moments later, things got terrible again. The woman is accused of pouring petrol over Kiran and setting him on fire: The victim died at the site from severe burns that occurred then and there. Investigators found that the accused may have also filmed it on her mobile phone.

A bizarre tale was at a minimum told to investigators in a gruesome and disturbing disclosure. First, the woman attempted to deceive law enforcement. She said to have been in the bathroom when she heard a sharp pop. Then, when she got outside, she heard the victim burning to the ground, and then she saw the victim caught in flames. But discrepancies in her statement and evidence obtained on the scene led police to investigate foul play.

The additional investigation discovered that the woman believed Kiran had begun not only to ignore her but also to avoid her, perhaps precipitating anger and a sharp urge for vengeance. Another variation of the investigation has even been that kerosene played a role in the attack, which further supports theories surrounding intent and purposeful action.

The suspect has been arrested, and a murder count is set to be filed, the Byadarahalli Police said. Investigators are digging into the particulars of what occurred and for whom, whether folks were involved, whether in the scheme or not.

This episode is just one example of how risky it can be to become entrenched in some small emotional crap when it all goes wrong. It does raise very real questions about premeditated violence behind fraudulent intent. Investigators were gathering for this case, and more information will emerge after forensic notes and digital evidence - such as the alleged video recording - will be studied.
