BMRCL said maintenance work will be carried out between Attiguppe and Vijayanagar Metro stations on the Purple Line. Metro services on a key stretch of the corridor will be suspended for two hours during the early morning to ensure safe working and efficient operation.

Metro services will be suspended between these stations

BMRCL announced that metro train operations between Deepanjali Nagar and Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR Majestic) Metro stations will be suspended from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM on Sunday, May 31.

Officials clarified that normal metro operations across the entire Purple Line will resume at 9:00 AM once the maintenance work is completed.

The temporary suspension will have an impact on early morning commuters heading to central Bengaluru, especially the ones coming to Majestic, one of the busiest interchange stations in the city.

Metro services that will continue normally

Despite the temporary disruption on the Purple Line, BMRCL said metro services will continue to operate normally on the following routes during the maintenance period:

  • Challaghatta – Mysuru Road
  • Kempegowda (Majestic) – Whitefield (Kadugodi)
  • Madavara – Silk Institute (Green Line)
  • RV Road – Bommasandra (Yellow Line)

Passengers travelling on these stretches can continue using metro services as per the regular Sunday schedule.

Maintenance Work on Priority

BMRCL officials said maintenance operations are important to maintain the metro service for long-term safety and smooth operation. The work will focus on infrastructure inspection and urgent technical maintenance between Attiguppe and Vijayanagar stations.

Metro authorities occasionally conduct such maintenance exercises to avoid operational problems and improve passenger safety across Bengaluru’s rapidly expanding metro network.

Advisory Issued for Passengers

The Chief Public Relations Officer of BMRCL has advised the people travelling on Sunday morning to take note of the temporary service disruption and plan their travel accordingly.

Passengers going toward Majestic or nearby areas during the affected hours can use alternative transport arrangements like BMTC buses, cabs, or auto-rickshaws.

Since Majestic is in fact a major interchange centre between the Purple and Green Lines, a temporary suspension may cause additional crowding and delay in nearby areas during the maintenance period.

Bengaluru Metro Still Growing

Namma Metro is still one of Bengaluru’s major public transport systems, with lakhs of passengers travelling daily in the city. The Purple Line connects key eastern and western parts of Bengaluru and is especially critical for office-goers, students, and daily commuters.

In recent years, the BMRCL has aggressively expanded metro connectivity through new corridors and extensions, including the Yellow Line connecting RV Road to Bommasandra.

But regular maintenance work is just as important as the metro network grows and passenger traffic increases significantly.

Citizens Asked to Cooperate

BMRCL acknowledges that there will be some inconvenience and asks for public cooperation in the maintenance process.

Commuters are advised to keep in mind the new schedules and to allow some extra time while planning their Sunday morning journeys through the affected Purple Line section.
