The first and only Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper is getting closer to service and passengers looking to make the trip last longer and be comfortable overnight between Karnataka and Maharashtra expect it.
The proposed train will connect KSR Bengaluru to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai and provide a premium rail service on one of the most important intercity routes in India. Railway authorities have said the service will be launched soon but the firm's final commercial launch date and timetable are not yet available.
Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Route
The proposed service will be operated between Bengaluru and Mumbai so that a long-distance train can be operated on the route that is currently much more time consuming for many conventional trains.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper should have faster overnight travels that allow passengers to board at night, sleep during the trip and reach their destination the next morning. The journey time is around 15 to 17 hours, but the total duration will depend on the last timetable, stoppages and operating speed.
The final list of stations where the train will stop has also not been officially confirmed yet. Some of the sites along the Bengaluru-Mumbai corridor could benefit from improved connectivity once the service gets operational.
16 Coaches With Three Travel Classes
The Bengaluru-bound Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset has 16 coaches and can accommodate around 823 passengers.
Its reported coach configuration is:
11 AC Three-Tier coaches
4 AC Two-Tier coaches
1 First AC coach
This gives travellers multiple options depending on their budget and level of comfort.
Unlike regular overnight trains, the Vande Bharat Sleeper is modern and comfortable for passengers. There are better sleeping berths, automatic doors, sealed gangways and better onboard systems.
The trainset has been developed by BEML with technology from Integral Coach Factory (ICF). It is designed for high-speed long distance operations with a maximum design speed up to 180 kmph.
What Will the Bengaluru-Mumbai Fare Be
The ticket price is the top question for passengers is one of the most important ones.
At present the Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper fare has not been officially announced. Thus figures on social media or other platforms should not be considered confirmed until Indian Railways releases the official fare structure.
Sleeper trains have three classifications of accommodation (3AC, 2AC and 1AC). The final price of Bengaluru-Mumbai train ticket will depend on the class selected, distance, applicable charges and other railway fare components.
But premium pricing will be compensated for by the train's faster travel time, modern facilities and overnight sleeping arrangements.
Why This Train Matters
The Bengaluru-Mumbai corridor is filled with business travellers, students and professionals. A dedicated sleeper Vande Bharat service may be a substitute for conventional trains and air transportation for passengers who are taking a long trip overnight.
Speed, sleeping facilities and modern conveniences could be the best reasons. Instead of spending the whole day traveling, passengers would use the overnight journey more efficiently.
Now that the trainset is being discussed and preparations are in place, Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper will be part of the growing Vande Bharat network in India.
Passengers will have to wait for the official announcement for the launch date, exact stoppages, timetable and confirmed fares. When those details are released, travellers will be able to compare this service with the existing trains and flights on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route.
