The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has scheduled emergency maintenance work at several key substations, including the Kattigenahalli and Chandra Layout units. Consequently, electricity supply will be interrupted daily from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM (and up to 6:30 PM in some zones) between December 26 and December 31, 2025.
The outages, caused by emergency maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, will affect over 40 residential and commercial areas across the city for a duration of up to seven days.
Affected Localities & Schedule
The power cut will primarily impact the North, West, and South-East zones of the city. Notable areas include:
- 7-Day Outage Zone (Dec 26–31): Rajajinagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, Subramanyanagar, Gayathri Nagar, Krishna Nandanagar, Maravanapalya, APMC Yard, Ganesha Block, Anjaneya Temple Road, Saraswathi Puram, AGB Layout, Srinivasa Nagar, Kurubarahalli, and surrounding areas.
- Friday Only (Dec 26): Chandra Layout, RPC Layout, Remco Layout, Bapuji Layout, Attiguppe, Vinayaka Layout, Canara Bank Colony, Mudalapalya, and Nagarbhavi Coconut Garden.
- North Bengaluru: Bagalur Cross, Kattigenahalli, Dwaraka Nagar, and areas near Manipal College.
Reason for the Shutdown
Officials stated that the disruption is necessary for the replacement of aging 66 kV lines with high-capacity conductors and the quarterly servicing of transformers. These upgrades are intended to handle the increased load during the upcoming New Year festivities and ensure long-term grid stability.
