Bengaluru Power Cut On December 25: BESCOM Announces Full List of Affected Areas & Timings

Residents in several parts of Bengaluru will have to prepare for a "dim" Christmas this year as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced extensive daytime power cuts for December 25, 2025. The disruptions, scheduled to last for 12 hours, are part of a major infrastructure upgrade project across the city's power grid.

The "12-Hour" Schedule

According to the official notification from BESCOM, the power supply will be suspended daily from December 25 to December 28, 2025.

  • Timing: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Duration: 12 Hours
  • Reason: The outage is required for the replacement of the existing 66 kV Sarjapura–Attibele single-circuit line with High-Temperature Low-Sag (HTLS) conductors. This upgrade will allow the lines to carry significantly more power to meet the city's growing demand.

The primary impact will be felt in the Southeast and South zones of Bengaluru, particularly in industrial and residential clusters.

1. Attibele Zone (66/11 kV)

  • Attibele Town and Attibele Industrial Area
  • Yadvanahalli, Ichanguru, and Vaddarapalya
  • Balagaranahalli, Manchanahalli, and Mayasandra
  • Dasanapura, Balluru, and Kablipura
  • Chikkanahalli, Indilabele, and Harohalli

2. Anekal Zone (66/11 kV)

  • Anekal Town and Kavaluhosahalli
  • Gowrenahalli, Haldenahalli, and Hompalagatta
  • Choodenahalli and Honnakalashapura
  • Karpuru, Byagadadenhahalli, and Kada Agrahara
  • Chikkahagade and Doddahagade

3. South Bengaluru (ISRO Layout & Kanakapura Belt)

While the major work is in the Attibele-Sarjapura belt, maintenance at the Padmanabhanagar, Subramanyapura, and ISRO Layout stations will lead to secondary outages in:

  • Banagiri Nagar, Pappaiah Garden, and BSK 2nd Stage
  • BNM College area, BDA Complex, and Devagiri Temple area
  • Chennammanakere Achukattu and Manjunath Colony

BESCOM Advisory for Residents

To minimize inconvenience during the holiday, BESCOM has issued the following guidelines:

  1. Charge Devices Early: Ensure all mobile phones, laptops, and emergency lights are fully charged before 6:00 AM.
  2. Water Storage: Residents in apartments should fill overhead tanks and sumps, as water pumps will not function during the outage.
  3. Appliance Safety: Switch off heavy appliances like refrigerators and ACs before the power goes out to prevent damage from potential voltage surges during restoration.
