Large parts of the city are facing significant power outages today, as authorities conduct emergency repairs and quarterly maintenance at several key substations. BESCOM has warned that these disruptions are necessary to ensure long-term grid stability and prevent unexpected breakdowns during the high-demand holiday season.
Today’s Power Cut (Dec 23): Key Details
The outages today are primarily concentrated in the South, West, and Central zones of Bengaluru.
- Timings: Most areas will experience power cuts from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Affected Hotspots: Over 80 localities are impacted, including major residential and institutional hubs.
Major Areas Affected Today:
- Central/West: Gandhi Nagar, Sheshadripuram, Race Course Road, Vasanthanagar, and parts of KG Road.
- South/Institutional: Areas surrounding NIMHANS, Jayadeva Hospital, Jayanagar (4th and 9th Blocks), BTM Layout, and IAS Colony.
- Tech/Industrial: EPIP Layout and surrounding software parks are facing a longer outage (until 5:00 PM).
The 4-Day Outlook (Dec 25–28)
Starting from Christmas Day (Dec 25), a second phase of planned outages will hit Southeast and South Bengaluru. These are required for the replacement of high-voltage transmission lines between Sarjapura and Attibele.
- Timings: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (12-hour daily disruptions).
- Affected Areas: Attibele Industrial Area, Sarjapura, Anekal Town, Yadvanahalli, and surrounding villages.
