The injured woman, identified as Vaishnavi (21), a resident of Kundalahalli, is currently fighting for her life in the ICU of a private hospital.

The Night of the Incident

The incident occurred on Saturday night when Vaishnavi and seven of her friends gathered for a party at a hotel in AECS Layout, HAL. The group had reportedly booked three rooms and were dancing and playing loud music.

Local residents, disturbed by the noise from the party, reportedly alerted the police. Within minutes, a Hoysala police patrol team arrived at the hotel.

The Leap of Fear and Allegations of Extortion

Upon learning that the police had arrived, Vaishnavi rushed to the balcony. According to her friends' accounts, she panicked and jumped from the balcony, landing hard on iron grills below, resulting in severe head and body injuries.

The most serious aspect of the incident is the direct allegation leveled against the police personnel. The friends claimed that the Hoysala staff, after entering the hotel rooms, showed a video of the party and claimed a complaint had been filed. They then allegedly demanded cash from the young men.

When the friends offered to pay via PhonePe, the police reportedly insisted on cash. One of the male friends went downstairs, stating he would withdraw money from an ATM. It was during this chaos that Vaishnavi jumped from the hotel.

Current Status and Investigation

Vaishnavi was immediately rushed to a private hospital by her friends and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), battling life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, a complaint detailing the police's alleged demand for money was lodged at the HAL Police Station. Police officials have visited the scene and have initiated an investigation into both the incident and the grave accusations of police misconduct and extortion.

The outcome of the police investigation will determine the veracity of the claims made by the young partygoers against the Hoysala staff.
