In a major relief for citizens, D.K. Shivakumar has announced an interest waiver scheme for consumers with pending water bills in Bengaluru.
As per the announcement, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will implement a special scheme starting April, offering 100% waiver on interest for overdue water bills. Consumers who clear their pending dues within the scheme period will not have to pay any accumulated interest.
The scheme will be available for a limited duration of three months, giving citizens a one-time opportunity to settle their outstanding bills without the burden of additional charges.
Importantly, the benefit is applicable across all categories of consumers, including domestic, commercial, and industrial users within the BWSSB jurisdiction. Authorities have urged all eligible users to take advantage of this initiative and clear their dues within the stipulated time.
D.K. Shivakumar emphasized that this move is aimed at reducing the financial burden on citizens while also improving revenue recovery for the water board.
Officials believe the scheme will encourage defaulters to regularize their accounts and ensure better efficiency in water service management across Bengaluru. Residents are advised to check their pending bills and complete payments within the three-month window to fully benefit from the interest waiver.
