A late-night drive turned fatal for a young man and woman after a Mercedes-Benz car crashed into a road divider on the outskirts of Bengaluru, resulting in a devastating accident that claimed their lives.
The tragic incident occurred near Doddahulluru village on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway in Hoskote taluk, falling under the jurisdiction of the Hoskote Police Station in Bengaluru Rural district. The accident has shocked family members and friends of the victims, who had reportedly set out on a long drive late at night.
One of the deceased has been identified as Rizwan, a 28-year-old resident of Banaswadi in Bengaluru. Rizwan was known locally as a dealer in second-hand cars and was reportedly travelling in the luxury vehicle along with a young woman identified as Shahajia Sheikh.
According to preliminary investigations, the Mercedes-Benz was moving at considerable speed when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The luxury car then rammed into the road divider with tremendous force, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Photographs from the accident scene show the Mercedes completely mangled, highlighting the severity of the collision. The impact was so powerful that parts of the vehicle were crushed, leaving little chance for the occupants to escape unharmed.
Police officials said Rizwan was thrown out of the car during the crash. The force of the collision allegedly hurled him nearly 20 feet away from the vehicle into a roadside canal. Due to the impact of the fall and the injuries sustained, he died on the spot.
What made the incident even more tragic was that Rizwan's body was not immediately located. Since he had been thrown far from the crash site and landed inside a canal, emergency responders initially could not trace his whereabouts.
Following the accident, police teams and family members launched a frantic search operation. Throughout the morning, authorities combed the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the missing occupant. After hours of searching, Rizwan's body was eventually discovered in the canal near the accident site.
The young woman travelling with him also suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Officials stated that the impact of the collision was severe enough to cause catastrophic injuries to the occupants of the vehicle.
