BSF Mizoram Seizes ₹25 Crore Worth of Drugs on NH-6

In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Mizoram, along with the Excise & Narcotics Department, intercepted two suspected drug peddlers on National Highway-6 (NH-6). Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team carried out the operation between Seling and Tuirial, leading to one of the biggest seizures in the region this year.

During the search, officials recovered 14.905 kg of methamphetamine and 707 grams of heroin concealed inside two Scooties. The contraband, valued at over ₹25 crore in the international market, highlights the scale of trafficking networks operating in the Northeast. Both individuals, identified as Myanmar nationals, were arrested on the spot and handed over to the Excise & Narcotics Department for further investigation.

Authorities noted that Mizoram’s proximity to Myanmar makes it a vulnerable transit route for narcotics smuggling. Methamphetamine tablets and heroin are often trafficked across the border, destined for wider distribution networks. The BSF has intensified surveillance along highways and border areas to counter this growing menace, with NH-6 emerging as a critical corridor for illegal trade.

The successful seizure underscores the BSF’s commitment to curbing cross-border drug trafficking. By removing contraband worth ₹25 crore from circulation and arresting two peddlers, the operation sends a strong message to smuggling syndicates. Officials confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace the larger network behind the consignment.
