Residents of Tirupati were shaken when a feared “Chaddi Gang” of people around Raghunath Resorts attempted to burglarize that city home. The gang, which has had no fear of crime in the past for years as it has been doing a lot against other parts of Andhra Pradesh. And so a concerned homeowner helped prevent a possible theft and police launched an investigation.
The burglary attempt was made at Sunanda Kumar Reddy’s house when his resident and neighbor observed suspicious activities inside his home that appeared in front of him; the house is now haunted with them. Suddenly, the home alarm sounded, the home made the burglars go away. On this quick action, not only was this property saved, but a gang’s failure to make contact would have ensured that they would not have succeeded.
CCTV footage of the gang moving around as it was detected has now been collected by police. The gang was seen roaming about near the place before breaking in.
A case has been registered after Sunanda Kumar Reddy’s complaint. Tirupati Rural CI Maddayya Achari confirmed that an investigation was initiated. There are teams collecting footage of the CCTV and putting stronger patrols in place to prevent more incidents. But it is for that reason and also citizens need to watch out too and report any suspicious incidents immediately.
“Chaddi Gang” are known for being bare-armed burglars who wear rarely anything during their crimes, likely only shorts or underwear. These are the very people who look like the ugly guy and that scares people away whenever they reappear in the area.
There are problems with city residents of Tirupati residential areas after the attack. Housing authorities have advised residents to be more cautious:
- Ensure CCTV cameras are in place.
- Strengthen locks and security systems.
- Stay up until late with an alarm going on.

The attempted burglary by the suspected Chaddi gang again underscored the need for vigilance and community awareness. Thanks to their lack of faith in the homeowners who were home early the gang failed on that day. Neighbors hope the criminals will be traced. For now Tirupati is in high alert and authorities are trying to ensure safety and there is no panic on the street there.
